Yamaha has launched the YZF-R15 V3.0 in India at Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The bike sports an aggressive design language that is derived from its bigger siblings, the YZF-R1 and the YZF-R6. It gets full-LED twin headlamps and an LED tail lamp. The instrument console is now an LCD-unit which displays gear position indicator, average speed recorder and a customisable shift light among the basic information.
The low set clip-ons, rear set footpegs and sculpted fuel tank give the bike a sporty riding position and appeal. It rides on 43mm telescopic front forks instead of the upside down forks that feature on the international version. Braking at the front is done by a 282mm disc held on by a 2-pot caliper, although it misses out on ABS.
The YZF-R15 V3.0 is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid cooled, VVA engine. This unit produces 19bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of torque at 8500rpm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch. It gets a 11-litre fuel tank and weighs 137kg.
Yamaha has priced the YZF-R15 V3.0 exceptionally well and the bike will be available in two colour combinations- blue with black and grey with red. It will compete against the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 in the Indian market.
