Yamaha will soon be opening bookings for the new YZF-R15 Moto GP edition. Produced in a limited run of just 5,000 motorcycles, the YZF-R15 has been priced at Rs 1.3 lakhs (ex-showroom). For a similar budget, there are three motorcycles from different genres that you can opt for. Here are those -
We start with the YZF-R15’s direct competitor – the Bajaj Pulsar RS200. It is also a fully-faired motorcycle with a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, albeit with a bigger 200cc unit. It is also more powerful than the R15, churning out 24.5bhp and 18.6Nm of torque. The Pulsar also gets a six-speed transmission. Prices start at Rs 1.25 lakhs for the base variant and Rs 1.38 lakhs for the ABS variant.
From Yamaha’s own stable is the Fazer 25 which retails at Rs 1.28 lakhs. It is again a fully-faired motorcycle, although targeted at touring enthusiasts. It is powered by a 249cc single-cylinder engine with an oil-cooler, mated to a five-speed transmission. The engine delivers 20.3bhp and 20Nm of torque.
The most expensive bike in this list is the Royal Enfield Classic 350. It might not be as technically advanced as the other bikes here, but it does ooze charm that any other bike can hardly match. It is powered by a 350cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that delivers 19.8bhp and 28Nm of torque through a five-speed transmission. The Classic 350 will set you back by Rs 1.39 lakhs.
All prices are ex-showroom.
