The Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0 was unveiled last week at the Sentul circuit in Indonesia. Indonesia being the biggest market for Yamaha gets the privilege of having the first taste of the Japanese manufacturer's sporty small-capacity offerings. With the YZF-R15 Version 2.0 doing well in the Indian market, the company is in no hurry to introduce the Version 3.0 here. Nevertheless, here is a photo gallery of the YZF-R15 Version 3.0.
The edgy design draws influence from its bigger siblings, and the fairing now integrates a twin-LED headlamp setup.
The old console with the analogue tachometer makes way for a fully-digital LCD display with gear position indicator, average speed recorder and a shift light.
Yamaha claims improved riding dynamics thanks to a revised chassis. The bike is now 30mm longer, 55mm wider and 65mm taller, and the wheelbase has been reduced by 20mm.
The YZF-R15 Version 3.0 is powered by a 155cc single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch.
The new mill is 2bhp more powerful than the current model at 19.7bhp, though the torque output remains the same at 14.7Nm.
The YZF-R15 Version 3.0 rides on inverted front forks, though it continues with a conventional brake setup rather than a radially mounted-unit.
Braking is taken care of by a 282mm disc with twin-piston calliper at the front and a 240mm disc with a single-piston calliper at the rear.
We can expect the Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 3.0 to be launched here in the second half of 2017, with significant increase in sticker price.
