Yamaha recently unveiled the 2020 MT-03 for the European and American markets. However, the bike is likely to be introduced in India sometime next year and as we await its entry, we bring to you details of the motorcycle through this image gallery.
The 2020 MT-03 is the streetfighter version of the YZF-R3 which is sold in international markets.
It borrows inspiration for its fascia from the MT-15 and sports split LED DRLs and an LED projector housed in an aggressively styled headlamp cowl.
The MT-03 also gets a defined fuel tank with distinctive tank shrouds that give it a muscular appearance.
However, the bike shares everything from its mid-section to rear end with the YZF-R3. It gets a split-seat setup with a sharp tail that houses a triangular LED tail lamp.
Yamaha has now equipped the MT-03 with 37mm upside down forks upfront and the rear monoshock has been tuned with stiffer springs. The bike also gets a new swingarm which pivots closer to the centre of the MT-03.
It rides on 17-inch wheels at both ends shod with 110/70 rubber in the front and 140/70 rubber at the rear. Meanwhile braking is done by a 298mm disc for the front and 220mm rear disc.
The Yamaha MT-03 continues with the 321cc, parallel-twin motor that produces 42bhp of power and 29.6Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to a six-speed transmission.
We can expect Yamaha to introduce the 2020 MT-03 in India sometime next year, most likely at the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi. It will compete against the KTM 390 Duke and the Kawasaki Z400 which is also expected to arrive in the country soon.
