- 28,000 units recalled in total.
- Issues concerning the gear shifter and radiator pipe.
- Model year 2015 to 2018 has been affected.
Yamaha has announced a global recall for its small-capacity sportbike, the YZF-R3.
The recall addresses issues with the bike’s gear shifter assembly and a faulty cooling system. The return spring on the shifter is subject to breakage making it difficult to shift gears. Meanwhile, the upper radiator hose which wasn’t properly vulcanised by Yamaha is likely to crack and leak fluid.
A total of 28,000 bikes have been affected in this recall. While 11,240 bikes from MY2015-2016 have been recalled for the gear shifter issue, the radiator hose problem affects 16,760 units from MY2015-2018.
The manufacturer will notify owners and replace the faulty components with new ones are no extra cost. Since this recall also affects bikes sold in India, we recommend visiting the nearest dealership to check for these issues at the earliest.
