The final production model of the Yamaha YZF-R3 has been spotted in India, ahead of its launch at the Buddh International Circuit on August 11. The R3 can be seen wearing a saree guard, thereby confirming that this specific bike is an India-spec model.
The R3 is built around a lightweight diamond-type semi-trellis steel frame, which also packs a rebored version of the R25’s quarter-litre liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. This 321cc engine delivers 41bhp and 27Nm of torque, through a six-speed constant mesh gearbox. We can see in this spy shot that the front disc brake of the Yamaha R3 is missing the ABS ring, which confirms that Yamaha will not offer ABS as a standard fitment.
Besides the midnight black paint scheme seen in this spy shot, the R3 will also be offered in a race blu livery. With the R3 being brought in through the completely knocked down (CKD) route, we expect it to sport a price tag of around Rs 3 lakh. It will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
