Yamaha Japan has gone ahead and recalled over 15,000 smaller capacity sports bikes. The list includes the YZF-R3 which is also sold in India. Other motorcycles included in the list are the YZF-R25, MT-320 and the MT-250.
The bikes have been recalled for a number of issues like oil pump failures, transmission problems and front brake issues. 1,458 units of the R3 have been affected with both the oil pump issue and the faulty clutch bearing which is part of the transmission problem. The R3s which are affected were manufactured between 19th March, 2016 and 19th May, 2016.
Rumours suggests that Yamaha USA is about to recall the motorcycles sold in the USA as well. At the moment there is no official statement from Yamaha India about the YZF-R3 being sold as being affected by this problem. We will keep you updated on further developments.
