- 2020 Yamaha NMAX 125 unveiled
- Gets new colour option
- Unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon
Yamaha has unveiled the 2020 NMAX 125 in Japan. The maxi-scooter gets a new colour scheme as part of the model year update.
The new ‘Matte Blue’ paint is available alongside Matte Grey Metallic and White Metallic colour schemes. In terms of design, the Yamaha NMax borrows styling from its bigger sibling, the NMAX 155 which was recently launched in Thailand. It gets a large fascia which incorporates a LED headlamp, large windscreen. The scooter also sports a large seat and a uniquely-styled exhaust canister.
Powering the NMAX 125 is a 125cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine with a fuel-injection system. This motor puts out 12bhp at 7500rpm and 11.7Nm at 7250rpm. Interestingly, it also comes with Yamaha’s famed VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology found on the R15 V3 and MT-15. It rides on 13-inch wheels at both ends suspended from telescopic forks upfront and monoshock at the rear. Braking is done by 230mm discs for the front as well as the rear assisted by a dual-channel ABS.
It is unlikely that Yamaha would launch the NMAX 125 in India anytime soon as the country currently does have not have a market for such scooters. Nevertheless, the manufacturer retails 125cc scooters like the Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125 in the country.
