- 2023 Yamaha R25 unveiled
- Gets new colour scheme
- Unlikely to be launched in India
While Yamaha has updated its entire portfolio of motorcycles and scooter in India to comply with OBD2 norms, the manufacturer has also been busy updating its international models too. The most recent is the R25 that has been revamped for 2023 and launched in the Malaysian market.
For the new model year, the sportbike gets a new colour option that looks interestingly unique. The paint scheme is called Midnight Star and is similar to the Midnight Blue paint scheme made famous by the Nissan Skyline R34. So, it gets a colour that is a combination of purple and blue along with black in some parts. Other than this, the R25 comes in the iconic Yamaha Blue and Black paint job that is carried forward from the 2022 model.
Now, the Yamaha R25 uses a 249cc, parallel-twin engine that puts out 35.5bhp and 22.6Nm. And in case you are wondering, it is the same engine platform as the R3 that was once sold in India. That said, the R25 borrows the hardware from the internationally available R3 and comes with upside down forks with golden fork bottles, dual-channel ABS and a quickshifter too. It even gets the same styling with the only differentiation being the logo on the fairing.
While bringing back the R3 would be the demand for a lot of enthusiasts in India, the R25 would make for a more affordable alternative. Especially considering that it almost performs the same and is kitted with similar hardware as the R3. Alas, there is no word about the latter yet and the probability of the R25 coming to our country is close to none as well.
