Yamaha will launch their new quarter-litre streetfighter in India tomorrow. Expected to be christened as FZ-25, this new motorcycle is based on the Brazil-spec Yamaha Fazer 250.
Previous spy shots and a teaser have shown that the FZ-25 will draw influence from the MT range of streetfighters. It gets characteristic streetfighter styling cues like an aggressive looking headlamp, muscular fuel tank, raised tail section and a stubby exhaust. Under the skin, it is built around a double cradle frame with a 249cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine. This engine delivers 20.7bhp and 20.5Nm of torque in the Brazil-spec model, though Yamaha might up the output for the Indian market to make it more competitive against its rivals.
We can expect the Yamaha FZ 250 to be priced between Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 1.6 lakh. It will compete with the KTM 200 Duke, Mahindra Mojo and the Bajaj Dominar 400.
