- Classic Legends likely to be working on Yezdi electric motorcycle
- Expected to share its platform with the Jawa Standard and Forty-Two
Classic Legends, the company which has resurrected Jawa in India, is reportedly working on an electric motorcycle which will be sold under the Yezdi brand. This will not only mark Classic Legend’s entry into the EV space but also the comeback of the iconic brand Yezdi which was discontinued in 1996 in India.
With the Yezdi electric motorcycle, the company intends to cater to the flourishing EV space of our country. For the development of this motorcycle, Classic Legends is likely to get assistance from Mahindra Electric as both the brands belong to one parent company – Mahindra Group. Similar to other Jawa bikes, this electric bike will also be locally built, except for a few elements such as the battery cells which could be imported from China.
Now that most of the major bike makers, in India and internationally, are stepping into the electric two-wheeler territory, Classic Legends will certainly try to be competitive by introducing an attractive line-up of electric bikes. And utilising the Yezdi brand seems highly sensible given it was hugely popular once and has a rich heritage. In fact, Yezdi’s first electric bike might share its platform with the Jawa Standard and Forty-Two. So, expect it to be a retro-looking electric motorcycle with modern features.
While the timeline of introduction of the Yezdi electric motorcycle is not known yet, we might get more such titbit on the matter in the coming months.
