Classic Legends has revived the Yezdi brand in the Indian market. The Yezdi range currently comprises three motorcycles – Adventure, Scrambler, and the Roadster. Previously, we brought you spec comparisons of the Adventure and the Scrambler. Here we compare the new Yezdi Roadster against its direct rival, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
Design
Unlike the Yezdi Adventure and the Scrambler, the new Roadster features a road-biased setup. It packs alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres, instead of wire-spoke units on other models. The styling cues include a round headlight, a round instrument cluster, a curvy fuel tank with rubber pads, split-style seats, and twin-sided exhaust canisters. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350, too, features a road-biased design. This successor to the Royal Enfield Thunderbird features a round headlight at the front, a twin-pod instrument cluster including the Tripper Navigation function, a curvy fuel tank, split-style seats, and a single-sided exhaust canister.
Both motorcycles come with a wide range of colour options. The Yezdi Roadster is available in five paint options – Smoke Grey, Steel Blue, Hunter Green, Gallant Grey, and Sin Silver. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350, on the other hand, is listed in seven colours – Fireball Yellow, Fireball Red, Blue Metallic, Black Matte, Red Metallic, Brown, and Dual-tone Blue.
Features
The feature list on the Yezdi Roadster comprises full-LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster sans the Bluetooth-connectivity, and a dual-channel ABS. In contrast, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 uses a halogen headlight and conventional blinkers. However, unlike the Yezdi Roadster, the Meteor 350 gets the company’s Tripper Navigation system that shows turn-by-turn directions. The safety net on the Meteor 350, similar to the Yezdi Roadster, includes a dual-channel ABS.
Engine
While the displacement on both motorcycles is very similar, the Yezdi Roadster uses a liquid-cooled setup and delivers higher power output figures. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor on the Roadster makes 29.3bhp at 7,300rpm and 29Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 uses a 349cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine that makes 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The motor on the Meteor 350 is linked to a five-speed transmission.
Hardware
The hardware on both motorcycles includes 41mm telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs to handle the suspension tasks. The braking duties on the Yezdi Roadster are handled by a 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm rotor at the back. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 uses 300mm and 270mm discs at the front and the rear, respectively.
