The ease of lockdown restrictions has started to show its effect in the form of new launches in India. Various dealerships and manufacturing facilities resuming operations means we will be seeing more new products in the coming days. Meanwhile, several brands are increasing the prices of their existing products. The last week was filled with such important stories and here are the top five of them.
2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 BS6 launched
Kawasaki launched its first BS6-complaint motorcycle in India, the 2020 Ninja 650. The fully-faired bike now gets a more aggressive styling, new features and a revised 649cc, parallel-twin engine. However, the most interesting aspect is the bike’s price which, at Rs 6.24 lakh, is only Rs 24,000 more than the BS4 model. Kawasaki has priced it much lesser than the tentative cost of Rs 6.45-6.75 lakh it had revealed. The 2020 Ninja 650 will be manufactured locally in India.
Bajaj Platina 100 BS6 launched
Bajaj updated its portfolio by launching the BS6 version of its commuter motorcycle, the Platina 100. The 102cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine of the Platina now gets electronic injection system and generates 7.7bhp and 8.34Nm. It comes mated to a four speed gearbox. Bajaj has also given subtle styling updates to the motorcycle. While the kick-start model of the bike is pegged at Rs 47,763, the electric-start trim costs Rs 55,546.
Several Yamaha models have received a marginal hike in their prices in India. The list includes motorcycles such as the YZF-R15 V3, MT 15 and FZ-S FI along with scooters including the Ray ZR 125 and Street Rally 125. The increment ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000. Besides Yamaha, Bajaj also increased the prices of its motorcycles last week. In this case, the maximum hike is as much as Rs 3,500 while the least increment stands at Rs 500. The products which are a part of this price revision include all Pulsar models, CT 100 and 110, Platina 100 and 110, Avenger and Dominar 400. Bajaj also resumed operations at its Chakan facility while reopening several dealerships across India.
Royal Enfield price hike
With various major manufacturers revising prices, Royal Enfield also followed the suit and made its bikes more expensive than before. The bikes which are a part of this move include the BS6 models of the Himalayan, Classic 350 and the Bullet 350. Interestingly, the amount of bump in their prices is nearly the same at around Rs 2,700.
