The last week was entirely dedicated to new launches in India! While a couple of existing segments witnessed new entrants, BMW’s new maxi-scooter came in to carve a niche of its own. And for the busy-bees amongst you who missed these stories, here’s our weekly Sunday round-up of the top bike updates.
2022 KTM RC 125 and RC 200 launched
After a long wait, KTM finally brought the 2022 editions of the RC 125 and RC 200 to the Indian shores. Both bikes get different styling, revised hardware and additional features over their predecessors. And despite a host of updates they have received, KTM hasn’t increased the prices of the bikes. The introductory prices of the 2022 RC 125 and RC 200 are Rs 1.82 lakh and Rs 2.09 lakh, respectively.
BMW launched the C 400 GT maxi-scooter for the first time in India. Priced at Rs 9.95 lakh, it is the most expensive scooter ever sold in India. Moreover, with a 33.5bhp, 350cc, liquid-cooled engine, it’s also the most powerful gearless machine in the country. Typical of a maxi-scooter, the C 400 GT boasts large body proportions along with generous storage provisions and high-tech features.
Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth edition
Hero’s premium commuter, the Xtreme 160R, is now available in a new Stealth avatar. As the name suggests, the entire body work of the bike is finished in black. Besides the dark theme, what’s different from other variants is the inclusion of a USB charging port, brightness adjustment for its LCD, and a gear position indicator in its console. Hero has priced the Xtreme 160R Stealth edition at Rs 1.17 lakh.
Hero Pleasure Plus Xtec launched
Hero also added excitement to its scooter portfolio by launching the new Xtec variant of the Pleasure Plus. Besides the subtle cosmetic add-ons, what’s really interesting in this trim is the presence of Bluetooth connectivity for giving different alerts (calls, messages, etc.) to the rider on the console. It also sports an LED projector headlamp which is the first in this segment.
New Triumph Street Scrambler launched
In the premium two-wheeler segment, the Indian market saw the entry of the 2021 Triumph Street Scrambler. The motorcycle now gets a cleaner BS6-compliant 900ccc, parallel-twin engine that makes 64.1bhp at 7,250rpm and 80Nm of peak torque at 3,250rpm. The motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
