The last week was a bit bleak in terms of new two-wheeler launches. However, a few other updates like the big discount on the Harley-Davidson X440 and Suzuki announcing a massive recall made the week interesting. Here’s a quick round-up of the five such noteworthy updates from the last week.
2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V launch
Hero MotoCorp launched the 2024 edition of the Xtreme 160R 4V in India at Rs. 1,38,500. It gets minor cosmetic changes along with additional features. Enhancing its safety quotient, Hero has incorporated dual-channel ABS and a panic brake alert system. Moreover, it also gets a new drag race timer which allows the rider to record the time of their 0-60kmph sprints. To enhance pillion comfort, Hero has incorporated of a single-piece seat, as opposed to the previous model’s split-type seat.
The BMW CE 04 electric scooter has been launched in India at Rs 14.90 lakh. While BMW’s electric cars have been on sale in India for a while, the company took its own sweet time to launch an EV. The scooter is powered by a 31kW (maximum output) electric motor that makes 41bhp and 61Nm. BMW claims that it can hit a top speed of 120kmph and its 8.5kWh battery offers a range of 130km.
Harley-Davidson is offering an attractive discount on its most affordable motorcycle, the X440. Its mid-spec variant – Vivid has gotten Rs 15,000 cheaper. With this price cut, the Vivid variant is now tagged at Rs 2.45 lakh. But this is a limited-period offer and is valid only till 15 August. While it is always good to see a discount on premium motorcycles, it is clear that this particular variant isn’t garnering as good sales as expected.
Suzuki as issued a massive recall for three of its 125cc scooters including the Access 125, Burgman Street 125, and the Avenis 125. A total of 3,88,411 scooters that were manufactured between 30 April 2022 and 3 December 2022 are a part of this recall campaign. The company is calling it a precautionary recall and the scooter owners are being contacted to get their vehicles checked at the nearest service centre and get the issue resolved, if it exists.
Royal Enfield 850cc adventure bike
Royal Enfield has showcased a one-off custom 850cc adventure bike at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. This is a bored-out version based on the brand’s 650cc platform. This one-off rally bike is built in partnership with David Gwyther of Death Spray Custom. The motorcycle is inspired by the Dakar Rally racing bikes from the 1980s and 1990s. The bike will be officially unveiled at the Goodwood FOS and displayed from 4-7 July.
