The last week saw a dearth of two-wheeler launches but that didn’t deter us from doing plenty of interesting stories such as the riding gloves buying guide. Also, two entry-level commuter bikes have been equipped with a disc brake, something that wasn’t available in this segment. Now, let’s take a quick look at the top five of these interesting stories from the last week.
Honda Livo BS6 disc variant launched
Honda introduced the front disc variant of the Livo BS6 in India with a price tag of Rs 74,256. That makes it around Rs 4,000 more expensive than the drum brake model. Apart from the braking setup, both the variants of the motorcycle remain identical in all aspects. It is powered by a 110cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine which churns out 8.6bhp and 9.3Nm. The BS6 model also gets new features such as an engine start-stop switch and a tweaked semi-digital instrument cluster.
Bajaj Platina 100 ES disc variant launched
Another commuter motorcycle which received a front disc brake is the Bajaj Platina 100 electric start version. The new variant is pegged at Rs 60,698 while the already-available drum brake trim costs Rs 58,477. Both types of braking hardware are accompanied by a combined braking system. Notably, the addition of a front disc has increased its weight by 1.5kg over the drum brake model which weighs in at 117.5kg. The motorcycle packs a 102cc, air-cooled engine which churns out 7.7bhp and 8.34Nm and comes mated to a four-speed gearbox.
BMW G310R, G310GS BS6 bookings open
Select BMW Motorrad dealers across India have started accepting bookings for the G 310 R and G 310 GS BS6 models. The minimum booking amount stands at Rs 50,000. Both bikes are expected to be launched by the end of next month in India. As it has been revealed through the spy shots, the new G 310 R and G 310 GS will sport a full-LED headlamp along with slightly revised bodywork. The 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine will also be tweaked for cleaner emissions which might lead to a slight change in its power figures.
Ducati Panigale V2 India launch date
Ducati has officially revealed that it will launch its new middle-weight supersport, the Panigale V2, in India on 26 August 2020. The motorcycle is the successor to the Panigale 959 and incorporates several updates over the latter. The most important change comes in the form of a new design which is nearly identical to its larger sibling, the Panigale V4. Its 955cc, L-twin motor has also been altered for BS6 compliance and churns out 155bhp and 104Nm. Moreover, it sports an all-new TFT console and other electronic aids.
