Your weekly dose of bike updates: BS6 Honda Dio launch, New Hero Splendor launch and more!

We have been witnessing new BS6-compliant products being launched almost every day and the last week was no different. We saw BS6 models of popular two-wheelers such as the Honda Dio and Bajaj Pulsar being officially announced along with other interesting launches. In case you missed them, here’s a low down on the top five most important two-wheeler stories from last week.

New Honda Dio BS6 launched

After the BS6 models of the Activa 125 and Activa 6G, Honda has introduced the updated version of its moto-scooter, the Dio. The Japanese bike maker has updated it in all aspects including styling, cycle parts and features while packing it with a new 109cc, fuel-injected engine. The Dio also looks sleeker and sportier while the 10-inch wheel front wheel has been replaced by a larger 12-inch unit. Another major update comes in the form of telescopic suspension at the front, as opposed to the previous trailing-link set up. With prices starting from Rs 59,990, the new Dio is now up to Rs 7,000 more expensive.

BS6 Bajaj Pulsar 150 launched

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 single disc and twin disc variants are now BS6 compliant. The carbureted engine of the motorcycle has now been replaced by a 150cc, fuel-injected motor capable of producing 13.8bhp and 13.25Nm, which is same as the outgoing model. Although Bajaj hasn’t changed anything else on both variants of the Pulsar, they demand around Rs 9,000 more over their BS4 counterparts. The single disc variant of the BS6 Pulsar 150 costs Rs 94,956 while its dual disc model retails at Rs 98,835.

BS6 Hero Splendor Plus launched

Another two-wheeler which joined the BS6 league is Hero’s best-selling model, the Splendor Plus. This too has been updated with a fuel-injected engine which, at 7.91bhp and 8.05Nm, produces slightly lesser power than the outgoing carb model. Hero has also introduced new set of paint schemes for the Splendor Plus while keeping all the other factors unchanged. It is available in three variants including kick start, self-start and self-start with i3S which carry a price tag of Rs 59,600, Rs 61,900 and Rs 63,110, respectively.

BS6 Hero Maestro Edge 125, Destini 125 launched

Hero’s Maestro Edge 125 and Destini 125 also joined Splendor in the queue to receive BS6 update. While the prices of the BS6 Destini 125 starts at Rs 64,310, its swankier sibling is priced from Rs 67,950. The new fuel-injected 110cc engine of both scooters is claimed to be 11 per cent more fuel efficient and 10 per cent better in terms of acceleration. What’s more, the Destini has also received new signature LED guide lamps besides new colour options for both scooters.

Moto Guzzi V85 available on sale

Piaggio had the retro-inspired adventure motorcycle, the Moto Guzzi V85, on display at the Auto Expo 2020 in Delhi. Following that, the company has also silently put the motorcycle on sale in India with a price tag of Rs 12.64 lakhs. But the catch is that the V85 will only be available until 1 April 2020 since it isn’t BS6-compliant. So now is the time to get your hands on an exclusive ADV with a unique styling and a 78hbp, 853cc, V-twin engine. As opposed to its classic design, the Moto Guzzi V85 gets modern rider aids such as traction control, ABS, three riding modes and a full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.
