The last week was extremely eventful for the Indian two-wheeler market. We witnessed multiple new launches in a variety of segments including electric motorcycles and middle-weight roadsters. In case you couldn’t stay up to date with these developments, here’s a round-up.
BSA Goldstar 650 launch
The BSA Gold Star 650 has been launched in India at Rs 2.99 lakh. It is built in India and is offered in five different colours, which also vary in terms of the asking price. The bike is powered by a 652cc, 4-valve, DOHC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 45bhp and 55Nm. The Goldstar 650 goes up against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 which starts at Rs 3.03 lakh.
2024 Jawa 42 launched
Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles launched the updated Jawa 42 in India at Rs. 1.73 lakh. The bike has received a lot of mechanical changes and subtle cosmetic tweaks. It is powered by the same 294.7cc, liquid-cooled engine but this unit has received some internal tweaks for better refinement and stronger torque delivery in the lower revs. While the suspension hardware is the same, the compression and rebound damping have been revised.
Ola Roadster launch
Ola Electric forayed into the electric motorcycle segment by launching the Roadster series. The line-up comprises the Roadster X, Roadster, and the Roadster Pro, in ascending order of their prices and specifications. The most affordable X variant starts from Rs. 75,000 while the top-end Pro trim goes up to Rs. 2.5 lakh. All of them vary in regards of design, features, hardware, battery range, and top speed.
New Royal Enfield Classic 350 unveil
Royal Enfield unveiled the 2024 Classic 350 and the motorcycle will be launched on 1 September, 2024. As a part of the model year update, the new Royal Enfield Classic 350 gets a few feature upgrades and cosmetic tweaks. There is an LED headlamp, LED tiger lamps, adjustable levers, and a gear position indicator. The top-end variants also get LED turn indicators.
TVS iQube Celebration edition launch
The TVS iQube Celebration Edition was launched in India at Rs 1.20 lakh. This is for the 3.4kWh variant of the iQube. The Celebration Edition is also available in the S variant and that will set you back by Rs 1.29 lakh, ex-showroom. It was introduced to commemorate the 78th Independence Day of India. Only 1,000 units each of the 3.4kWh variant and the S variant will be available. What’s notable is that the prices are the same as the regular iQube e-scooter.
