The increasing number of COVID-19 cases has forced state governments to extend lockdown in most of the regions in India. However, that’s not stopping two-wheeler brands from launching and dispatching new products for the customers. There were a bunch of updates in the last week which showed the industry’s resilience and we bring you the round-up of the top five such stories.
Hero Xpulse 200 BS6 launched
After revealing the specifications of the Xpulse 200 BS6 in April 2020, Hero MotoCorp has now officially launched the motorcycle in India. It has been priced at Rs 1,11,790 which is a premium of around Rs 6,000 over its BS4 counterpart. While it continues to be powered by a 199cc, single-cylinder engine, the BS6-bound changes have slightly altered its power figures which stand at 17.8bhp and 16.45Nm now. It also gets a bash plate which wasn’t available in the BS4 version.
2020 BMW S1000XR launched
BMW Motorrad has launched the heavily updated version of its sport touring motorcycle, the 2020 S 1000 XR. Besides a sportier styling and additional features, it gets a revised 999cc, inline four-cylinder engine borrowed from the 2020 S 1000 RR sportsbike, but without Shiftcam technology. Although the power figures remain unchanged at 162bhp and 114Nm, BMW has made the fourth, fifth and sixth gear longer for a better touring experience. BMW has priced the 2020 S 1000 XR at Rs 20.90 lakh.
Jawa Perak deliveries to start from 20 July
Jawa is all set to start the deliveries of its bobber-styled offering, the Perak, from 20 July 2020 in India. The motorcycle was unveiled in January this year when the bookings for the bike had also commenced. Back then, the company had scheduled the deliveries to begin in April, but that couldn’t happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jawa Perak is powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which produces 30bhp and 32.74Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Classic Legends has pegged the Perak at Rs 1.94 lakh.
Mahindra Mojo 300 BS6 black colour revealed
Mahindra recently confirmed the comeback of the Mojo 300 in BS6 form by releasing a teaser image. Subsequently, the company went on to show the motorcycle in all its glory through its social media channel. The first image of the Mojo 300 BS6 shows the bike adorning black coloured panels along with red accents. As can be seen in the image, the design, cycle parts and powerplant are identical to the Mojo UT300 BS4 which was discontinued long back.
Royal Enfield Meteor 350 spied
The upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has been spied for the umpteenth time in India. As we already know, the motorcycle will be based on a new double-cradle frame and a new engine based on the ‘J’ platform. The exact displacement of the motor is still unknown. As it will replace the Thunderbird 350X, it boasts of a similar styling with slight changes. However, it is expected to offer better features such as an LCD display and improved switchgear. Expect the price of the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 to be slightly higher than the Thunderbird 350X which was pegged at Rs 1.64 lakh.
