With another week gone by, we have inched closer to the BS6 deadline of 1 April 2020. That resulted in more launches of BS6 updated products in India. However, Hero introduced us to something brand new which isn’t just another updated product for the upcoming emission norms. If you missed these interesting updates, here’s a quick low down on the top five of them from the last week.
Suzuki Burgman Street 126 BS6 launched
After unveiling the Burgman Street 125 BS6 at the Auto Expo 2020, Suzuki launched it last week at Rs 77,900. The pricing has gone up by Rs 7,000. Now, its 125cc engine features fuel-injection and it produces 8.7bhp and 10Nm which is slightly different than the BS4 model. The only new feature it has received is an engine start-stop switch. While the styling remains the same, a new matte red colour option has been introduced alongside the existing matte grey, matte black and white paint schemes.
Hero Passion Pro and Glamour BS6 launched
Hero has introduced BS6 models of its commuter offerings, the Passion Pro and Glamour. Both bikes come in two variants with prices starting at Rs 64,990 and Rs 68,900, respectively. They are now powered by fuel-injected versions of their respective powerplants which has resulted in varying power figures as compared to their BS4 counterparts. Hero has also bestowed them with fresh styling and new features. One common add-on in the Glamour and Passion Pro is the new Auto Sail feature for stress-free riding in traffic.
Hero amazed us by unveiling the Xtreme 160R street bike which looks closely similar to the Xtreme 1.R concept it had shown at the EICMA 2019. The motorcycle is nothing like we seen before from Hero. It sports a futuristic headlamp, muscular fuel tank and extensions and a stubby tail. With fully-digital display and all-LED lighting, the Xtreme also qualifies to be called modern. Although we really liked it in our short ride at Hero’s test track, it remains to be seen how well Indian customers perceive it when it will be launched in a couple of weeks.
Honda’s best-selling motorcycle, the CB Shine, is also BS6-compliant now. While its styling hasn’t witnessed any major change, its 125cc engine now gets fuel-injection and the four-speed gearbox gets an added cog for smoother highway riding. The feature list now comprises of DC LED headlamp, engine start-stop switch and integrated headlamp and pass switch. As for the pricing, the new CB Shine costs Rs 67,857 which makes it around Rs 8,000 more expensive than the BS4 model.
BS6 KTM 125 Duke and RC to hit showrooms from April
BS6 models of KTM’s entry-level offerings, the 125 Duke and RC 125, were launched last month. However, the Austrian bike maker has now revealed that their deliveries will commence from April 2020. While naked version of the bike costs Rs 1.38 lakhs, the fully-faired RC model has been priced at Rs 1.55 lakhs. Despite the changes on the engine, power figures of both KTMs have remained unchanged at 14.5bhp and 12Nm. On the cosmetic front, the Duke remains the same but the RC has received a new white and orange paint scheme.
