The last week witnessed two big launches in India including that of the Honda Activa 6G and the Bajaj Chetak electric. Moreover, reports about the imminent launches of some upcoming products made the week further interesting. In case you missed them, here are the five most important two-wheeler updates from the bygone week.
After launching the BS6 Activa 125 and SP 125, Honda introduced the new model of its highest-selling two-wheeler in India, the Activa 6G. While the scooter received the mandatory fuel-injection in place of the previous carbureted engine, the Activa also received a bunch of new features. What’s more, the styling has also gone through minor changes which set it apart from the outgoing model. Honda has priced the new Activa 6G at Rs 63,912 (standard) and Rs 65,412 (premium) which is hike of around Rs 8,000 over the 5G model.
Bajaj Chetak electric scooter launched
Bajaj has re-entered into the scooter segment in India with the all-new Chetak electric. Besides retaining the name of its iconic forefather, the e-scooter also takes styling cues from the old Chetak with a retro-inspired design. Following the current trend, it packs a host of modern features such as Bluetooth-enabled digital display and full-LED lighting. The new Chetak is claimed to deliver an impressive range of up to 95km while the top speed is limited to 60kmph. And as we had expected, Bajaj has priced the standard model of the Chetak at Rs 1 lakh while the premium model goes up to Rs 1.15 lakhs.
2020 TVS Apache RR 310 launching on 30 January
TVS is all set to launch the new model of its flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR 310, on 30 January in India. The motorcycle was spied a few days back revealing interesting details about the updated model. It gets a new fully-digital display with TVS’ SmartXonnect feature along with a new dual-tone paint scheme. The engine of the bike will also be revised to meet the new emission norms. All these updates are likely to demand a premium of around Rs 15,000-20,000 over the existing model which retails at Rs 2.25 lakhs.
TVS electric scooter spotted testing
Before launching the BS6 Apache RR 310, TVS is likely to introduce a new electric scooter on 25 January. We may have already caught a glimpse of it as a recent video showed two electric scooters undergoing tests in Hosur which are believed to be the same upcoming products from TVS. While the test mules were heavily camouflaged, the video revealed an electric motor and a large fully-digital instrument cluster. It is likely to be based on the TVS Creon concept which was unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo.
New Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 spotted
Royal Enfield is ready to launch the new BS6 Himalayan soon as the motorcycle was recently spotted in all its glory. Interestingly, it was adorned in a cool combination of glossy red and black paint scheme which is a part of the update. This will be accompanied by a combination of white and blue shade. Notably, both these colour options were revealed at the 2019 EICMA show in Milan. The engine of the bike has been tweaked to be compliant with BS6 norms, power figures of which are currently unknown. While the Himalayan currently retails at Rs 1.80 lakhs, expect the BS6 model to demand a premium of around Rs 15,000-18,000 over that.
