The last week didn't witness any major launches but still offered some interesting stories which we covered promptly for our readers. Besides the usual spy shots and prospective launch updates surfacing, two-wheeler manufacturers hiked the prices of their products due to the start of the new financial year and some other reasons. Let’s take a glimpse at all the important developments which took place in the two-wheeler industry in the last week.
Honda X-Blade India launch soon
In our exclusive story, we reported that the Honda X-Blade is all set to receive an update in the coming months. This facelifted version of the Honda’s premium commuter will get new graphics and colour options to stay fresh. Meanwhile, the motorcycle will remain the same mechanically. The X-Blade is powered by a 162cc, single cylinder motor which produces 14bhp and 13.9Nm while it comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. It is currently priced at Rs 88,094 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Honda intends to keep the price unchanged even after the update.
Aprilia Storm 125 launch and price
We were the first ones to report that Piaggio will be launching the Aprilia Storm 125 in India in the next few days and will price it at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the scooter will begin soon while the deliveries will commence in the first week of May. Sharing its engine with the Aprilia SR125, the Storm 125 will come with off-road-biased tyres and with three matte-finished colour options.
2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 in new colours
The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is currently available only in two colour options of aurora green and vine black. However, this is going to change soon as two more shades will be added to the portfolio, according to Bajaj’s commercial which surfaced recently on the internet. In the TVC, the Chakan-based bikemaker showcased the 2019 Dominar 400 in new colours of red and silver. Expect these paint schemes to be introduced in the coming days, as the demand rises. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 retails at Rs 1.73 lakhs and competes against the Royal Enfield Classic 500, Royal Enfield Himalayan and the KTM 250 Duke.
2019 Suzuki GSX-S750 launched
Suzuki launched the 2019 edition of its naked street bike, the GSX-S750 in India. The motorcycle has been updated with refreshed graphics and now comes in two new paint schemes including metallic matte black and pearl glacier white. Earlier, the GSX-S750 was offered in blue and red colour options which have now been discontinued. Apart from the graphical changes and new colours, the motorcycle remains the same. The 2019 Suzuki GSX-S750 carries a sticker price of Rs 7.46 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Hero Xtreme 200R price hike
Hero MotoCorp has hiked the price of its 200cc motorcycle, the Xtreme 200R, by Rs 1,000 in India. Now, the bike retails at Rs 90,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Powering the Xtreme 200R is a 199.6cc, air-cooled motor which churns out 18.1bhp of power and 17.1Nm of torque. This unit comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Considering the price it is offered at, the Hero Xtreme 200R is the most affordable 200cc motorcycle in India.
Benelli TRK 502 and TRK 502X price hike
Benelli has also increased the price of its newly-launched adventure tourers, the TRK 502 and the TRK 502X. Following the hike of Rs 10,000, the former now retails at Rs 5.1 lakhs while the latter costs Rs 5.5 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, India). Both bikes were introduced in February 2019 and with 150 bookings in the first month itself exemplifies the good response it has been receiving.
Revolt electric bike spied
Revolt Intellicorp was spied testing one of its upcoming electric motorcycles once again. The company is a Gurgaon-based startup and is set to venture into the electric motorcycle space with what it claims to be India’s first AI-enabled e-bike. Unlike the previously spotted camouflaged mule, this time the motorcycle was sighted undisguised. The pictures showed off its streetbike stance with red fairing, fuel tank and tail section along with upside down front forks, rear monoshock and eight-spoke alloy wheels. The first electric bike from Revolt Intellicorp is expected to be launched in June.
