Another exciting week has gone by and we witnessed some note-worthy progress from the two-wheeler manufacturers. From mass-market companies like Bajaj to exotic bike makers such as the MV Agusta, most of them had something special for us. And like every Sunday, we have got for you a quick low down of the top five two-wheeler stories from the last week.
Jawa 90th Anniversary limited edition launched
Classic Legends is celebrating the 90th anniversary of Jawa brand’s existence by launching a special edition model of the Jawa Standard. In order to keep its exclusivity, the company will make only 90 units of the motorcycle. Based on the dual-channel ABS variant of the bike, it sports a red and ivory paint scheme inspired by the first Jawa model, 500 OHV. Also, there’s an exclusive emblem on the fuel tank along with a serial number. Despite all that, the motorcycle doesn’t carry any premium over the standard bike and has been priced at Rs 1.72 lakhs.
MV Agusta Dragster 800 RR series launched
MV Agusta has expanded its portfolio in India by launching the Dragster 800 RR series. Besides the standard model, the company has brought the America and Pirelli edition as well. While the former two have been pegged at Rs 18.73 lakhs, the latter costs Rs 21.5 lakhs. Based on the Brutale 800, which is already available in India, the Dragster is a more performance focussed model. It churns out 140bhp of power and 87Nm of torque from the 798cc, inline-triple cylinder motor. Bookings for the Dragster 800 RR have commenced in Motoroyale dealerships across India with deliveries to follow soon.
Bajaj Urbanite electric scooter launch on 16 October
Bajaj’s upcoming sub-brand, Urbanite, has long been in the headlines owing to the consistently emerging spy shots of its electric scooter. With much curiosity being spiked about the brand, Bajaj is set to put that to rest by launching the first Urbanite offering on 16 October. Going by the spy pictures, this electric scooter is likely to hark back to Bajaj’s iconic Chetak by sporting a similar styling. Although it will get a retro-inspired design theme, the set of features will surely be modern to keep it on par with its closest rival, the Ather 450. The bike maker is likely to price the first Urbanite electric scooter around Rs 1 lakh.
2020 Triumph Street Triple RS unveiled
Triumph has officially unveiled the 2020 edition of its performance street naked, the Street Triple RS. The motorcycle has become even more aggressive in terms of styling while the electronics and hardware have also been upgraded to make it further potent. The 765cc, inline-triple motor has been revised and now it produces more torque at 79Nm while the power output remains unchanged at 121bhp. Although the new Street Triple will be launched in India next year, we have already ridden the motorcycle in Spain and the review will be up soon.
2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 unveiled
Kawasaki has taken the wraps off the 2020 version of its popular sport tourer, the Ninja 650. The motorcycle now boasts of a sharper design which is similar to its supersport sibling, the NInja ZX-6R. The Japanese bike maker has also added an updated list of features while making it more comfortable, especially for the pillion. However, the 650cc, parallel-twin motor of the bike remains unchanged. As for its India launch, Kawasaki is likely to bring the new Ninja 650 after the BS-VI emission norms become operational in April and it will undoubtedly carry a slightly higher price tag than the existing model.
