The last week brought along a carnival of launches from major bikemakers such as Royal Enfield and Honda. While the former introduced a more affordable Classic 350, the latter launched its first BS-VI offering, the Activa 125 FI. We covered more such interesting stories and in case you missed them, here’s a round-up of top five two-wheeler reports from the last week.
More affordable Royal Enfield Classic 350 launched
Royal Enfield made owning a Classic 350 easier now as it launched the more affordable version of the motorcycle. Available with single-channel ABS, this variant of the Classic 350 costs Rs 1.45 lakhs. With that pricing, it is cheaper as compared to the dual ABS version by Rs 7,500. Besides the addition single-channel ABS, it also gets subtle cosmetic changes such as blacked-out engine and wheel rims along with two new colour options including Pure Black and Mercury Silver. At present, the motorcycle is available only in Tamil Nadu and Kerala while it will be available across India by the end of October.
Honda Activa 125 FI BS-VI launched
Honda took its first step towards cleaner emissions as it launched the Activa 125 FI, its first BS-VI-compliant two-wheeler. Besides updating the scooter with a fuel-injected engine, Honda has also equipped the new Activa 125 with several new features. It gets a more comprehensive instrument cluster, an external fuel filler cap, front glove box, new ACG starter and a side stand engine inhibitor. The styling has also received minor changes over the carbureted model. The Activa 125 FI is available in Standard, Alloy and Deluxe variants which are priced at Rs 67,490, Rs 70,990 and Rs 74,490, respectively.
Kawasaki Ninja 400 gets new colours
The Kawasaki Ninja 400 is now available in two new colour schemes including Metallic Spark Black/Lime Green and Lime Green/Ebony, which is the KRT edition. Besides the new set of clothes, the middle-weight sportsbike remains unchanged in all other aspects. It is powered by a 399cc, parallel-twin engine which churns out 47.5bhp and 38Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox which is assisted by a slipper clutch. Despite the addition of new colour options, the Ninja 400 continues to retail at Rs 4.99 lakhs.
TVS Radeon Celebratory special edition launched
The TVS Radeon has achieved a customer base of 2 lakhs in India since it was launched. To commemorate this, the Hosur-based bikemaker has introduced a new celebratory special edition model of the 110cc commuter. While it gets two new colour schemes and a few cosmetic changes, the main highlight of the special edition model is the addition of disc brake at the front. Whereas, the standard model is only available with drum brakes at both ends. The disc variant of the Radeon special edition is priced at Rs 54,820 while the drum variant costs Rs 52,720. This is a premium of Rs 1,900 and Rs 4,000 over the standard model.
Aprilia, Vespa scooters get a price hike
Piaggio has increased the prices of Aprilia and Vespa scooters in India. While the Aprilia scooters have received a marginal increase in their prices, up to Rs 1500, the Vespa models have witnessed a comparatively higher price increase. The most significant hike has been seen for the Vespa SXL 150 which is now dearer by Rs 2,724. The hike from Piaggio comes amidst the sales downturn which the Indian two-wheeler industry has been witnessing over the last few months.
