From an affordable electric scooter to a supercharged hyper tourer, the Indian market welcomed a variety of new two-wheelers last week. Although we have already covered everything in detail, here’s a quick round-up of the top five bike updates from last week for those who couldn’t stay up to speed with the latest developments.
Pune-based Tork Motors launched the new Urban variant of the Kratos-R electric motorcycle. It is priced at Rs 1,67,499 (ex-showroom, Pune). The Urban trim is essentially based on the existing Kratos-R but comes with fewer features than the standard model. There’s a ‘City’ riding mode that boasts a top speed of 70kmph and a range of over 100km per charge. Meanwhile, the styling and powertrain of the Urban variant remain similar to the rest of the portfolio.
Ola Electric launched its most affordable electric scooter in India, the S1X. It is available in three variants - S1X (2kWh), S1X and S1X Plus. The e-scooter looks visually similar to the other S1 models for the most part, except for subtle differences like a larger headlight cowl and blacked-out treatment for the lower bodywork. Powering the S1X base model is a 2kWh battery unit while the mid-spec model and Plus model get a 3kWh unit. That said, all three trims get the same 6kW motor.
Honda introduced the OBD2-compliant, 2023 version of the Livo. The motorcycle is available in drum and disc variants that are priced at Rs. 78,500 and Rs. 82,500, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom). It continues to be powered by the same 109.51cc, air-cooled engine with fuel injection and ACG starter motor for a silent engine start. The feature list includes an integrated engine start/stop switch, DC headlamp, combined-braking system, tubeless tyres, and five-step preload adjustable rear suspension.
Hero MotoCorp spiced up its scooter portfolio by launching the more affordable Prime variant of the Destini 125 in India. With a price tag of Rs 71,499 (ex-showroom), the Prime trim is Rs 14,239 cheaper than the VX variant of the Destini Xtec. The former boasts the older styling of the scooter which looks simpler with a larger headlamp, body-coloured mirrors, single-piece grab rail, and a single-tone seat. Moreover, it misses out on Bluetooth connectivity and a front mobile charging port.
2024 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX, H2 SX SE launch
Kawasaki India rode in the 2024 Ninja H2 SX and Ninja H2 SX SE hyper tourers. Both bikes have been updated as per the latest emission norms while retaining a majority of their design, features, hardware and electronics from the previous iterations. The highlight of Kawasaki’s H2 line-up is its 998cc supercharged inline four-cylinder motor with the power output rated at 200bhp and 137.3Nm of peak torque. This engine is accompanied by a host of safety aids like an Advanced Rider Assistance System (ARAS), vehicle hold assist, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, ride modes, and traction control.
