Your weekly dose of bike updates: Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS, TVS Apache RTR 160 ABS, Honda CB Unicorn 150 ABS, Yamaha MT-15 and more

The date of mandating safety norms (1 April 2019) in two-wheelers is just around the corner and hence, manufacturers are actively updating their two-wheelers with ABS and CBS. The past week was majorly about this along with a few other interesting stories. Let’s take a glimpse at all the news from last week which excited us.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS launch

Royal Enfield launched the ABS version of its most popular offering, the Classic 350. With the addition of ABS in the standard version, the whole Classic 350 line-up now incorporates this safety feature including the Redditch, Gunmetal Grey and Signals edition. The dual-channel ABS increased the bike’s price by Rs 5,800 and now the Royal Enfield Classic 350 ABS costs Rs 1.53 lakhs.

TVS Apache RTR 160 ABS launch

TVS updated its entry-level Apache offering, the Apache RTR 160 with a single-channel ABS. Now, it demands a premium of Rs 6,000 over the non-ABS trim. Resultantly, the TVS Apache RTR 160 ABS front disc version retails at Rs 84,710 while the rear disc ABS model is priced at Rs 87,719. Apart from ABS, the motorcycle remains the same in terms of looks, engine and cycle parts.

Honda Unicorn 150 ABS launch

Honda made its 150cc commuter, the CB Unicorn 150 safer with the addition of a single-channel ABS. This has attracted a hike of Rs 6500 and now the motorcycle carries a price tag of Rs 78,815. The Honda CB Unicorn 150 ABS remains the same ideal commuter with its refined 150cc engine, comfortable ergonomics and simple yet likeable design.

Honda Navi CBS launch

Yet another Honda to join the Unicorn in the safety campaign is the Navi. Since it gets a below-125cc engine (110cc), it has been updated with the combi-braking system (CBS). The Honda Navi CBS now retails at Rs 47,110 which is a bump of Rs 1796 over the non-CBS model. The motorcycle-styled scooter continues to share its 110cc powerplant with the Activa which makes 8bhp and 8.94Nm of torque.

Yamaha MT-15 spotted before launch

The Yamaha MT-15 has been spotted in India undisguised before its official launch scheduled for 15 March. The naked version of the YFZ R15 V3 is one of the most anticipated bikes in India. The India-spec MT-15 was spotted in matte blue shade, missing out on a few premium elements which are present on the international-spec bike. The street naked is powered by the R15’s 155cc, 19bhp, 14.7Nm motor and will be positioned above the FZ range.

Piaggio’s Aprilia Storm 125 launch in April

Last week, we broke the news that Piaggio will be launching the Aprilia Storm 125 by the third week of April. According to our sources, bookings will commence by 1 April itself. The Storm 125 was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. It is based on the SR125 but gets distinctive styling along with smaller 12-inch, dual-purpose tyres to make it more efficient on broken roads.

Kawasaki Ninja H2R India delivery

Kawasaki will deliver its most exotic and powerful machine, the Ninja H2R in India on 3 March. Only one unit has been assigned to India which has already arrived. Priced at Rs 72 lakhs, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R is one of those rare motorcycles which can touch 400kmph speed and produces in excess of 300bhp of power.
