The last week was deprived of new two-wheeler launches in India. However, spicy updates about some highly anticipated upcoming offerings made it exciting nonetheless. In case you couldn’t stay up to date with these stories, here’s a quick lowdown.
Royal Enfield Classic 650 spotted testing
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 was spotted testing once again but it was outside of India this time around. The motorcycle looked quite close to being production-ready with a stance that’s very similar to its existing 350cc sibling. It will be based on the same platform as the Interceptor 650 but with certain changes like different wheels, a new sub-frame, and perhaps, a different fuel map. It will sit between the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 on the pricing spectrum.
A new spy shot of the next-generation KTM 390 Adventure undergoing off-road testing has surfaced on the internet. The bike’s design is heavily inspired by KTM’s rally bikes and the off-road ergonomics of the new KTM 390 Adventure do appear to be sorted. The entire hardware seems more adventure-centric and the engine is likely to be the new 399cc mill that’s present in the new 390 Duke. The India launch of the bike might take place early next year.
Triumph 400 twins custom colours
A Triumph dealership, which is based in the Chinchwad area of Pune, is offering three custom colours each for the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X. The paint job is being executed at one of the dealer’s own workshops and it is charging a premium of Rs 15,000 over the actual price of these bikes. An additional Rs. 2,500 as RTO charges for registering the custom colour is also a part of the package.
Triumph Daytona 660 India launch
Triumph India has commenced the production of the Daytona 660 for the Indian market and some dealers have also started the pre-bookings. The token amount can be between Rs. 25,000 – 30,000. While the Daytona 660 shares the platform with the other 660 bikes in Triumph’s lineup, its power figures are notably higher at 95bhp and 69Nm. We expect the bike to cost close to Rs. 10 lakh with all the bells and whistles and the overall aspirational value of it.
Triumph Truxton 400 launch timeline
In 2024, Triumph could launch the third motorcycle based on its 400cc platform as per a statement made by Bajaj Auto’s Rajiv Bajaj. This bike is likely to be the Thruxton 400 considering it has been spotted on test on a couple of occasions. While the Thruxton 400 will offer some cycle parts and ergonomics in line with its café racer theme, the chassis, suspension or engine should be the same as in the other Speed 400.
