The Indian two-wheeler industry witnessed various new developments in the last week. From the showcase of Yamaha’s most-anticipated bikes to the announcement of delivery details of the Triumph Speed 400, there was a lot to pay heed to. In case you aren’t aware of these updates, here’s a quick lowdown.
Triumph confirmed through its social media handles that the dispatches of the Speed 400 have commenced from Bajaj’s Chakan plant and the bike has started reaching dealerships. That means the deliveries of the bike will start soon. The motorcycle can be booked by paying Rs. 10,000 while the ex-showroom price stands at Rs 2.33 lakh.
Harley-Davidson X440 delivery and test rides
Harley-Davidson India announced that it has received an overwhelming response for the X440, so much so that the window for the bike will close on 3 August 2023. Moreover, the test rides for those customers who have pre-booked the bike will commence on 1 September followed by the commencement of deliveries in October.
The 2024 KTM 390 Duke was spied undergoing road tests for the umpteenth time last week. As we already know, the motorcycle will boast a much more evolved styling that will be inspired by the bigger 1290 Super Duke. It’s also expected to get a larger 399cc, liquid-cooled engine along with completely revised cycle parts including frame, sub-frame, wheels, suspension, swingarm, and brakes. The official India launch of the 2024 390 Duke is expected to take place early next year.
Honda teased one of its upcoming motorcycles on its social networks which will be unveiled in India on 2 August. Details of the motorcycle are scarce but it is likely to be in the 150-180cc category. However, after a look at Honda’s portfolio, the new motorcycle is expected to be the SP160. The brand already has the Unicorn 160 as its premium 160cc offering but nothing to offer in the 160cc commuter segment specifically targeted at Tier-3 cities. That is where the upcoming motorcycle would come in.
Yamaha showcased the upcoming YZF-R3 and MT-03 to the journalists in India ahead of their imminent launch. While the official launch details are not available yet, we expect to hear a launch announcement in August 2023, ahead of the high-demand festive season. Further, several dealers across the country have already started accepting unofficial bookings for the upcoming YZF-R3 and MT-03. The booking amount for these motorcycles varies from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 depending on the dealership.
