The last week was deprived of new two-wheeler launches, thanks to the ongoing lockdown due to the COVID-19 virus. However, various manufacturers teased their upcoming products confirming that interesting times lie ahead. Also, we brought to you an interesting data through our survey conducted over the past few days. For our loyal readers who missed any of these stories, here are the top five of them from the last week.
New Yamaha FZ 25, FZS 25 listed on website
Yamaha has listed the upcoming model of the FZ 25 and its fancier version, the FZS 25, on its official website. Both bikes are based on the previous-gen BS4 model sporting cosmetic and mechanical updates. While the new FZ 25 BS6 gets a redesigned front fascia and fuel tank section, its S variant gets a few styling add-ons such as a tall visor, knuckle guards and golden wheels. Powering them is a common 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which makes 20.5bhp and 20.1Nm. Both bikes will be around Rs 8,000-10,000 more expensive over the outgoing BS4 version which was pegged at Rs 1.33 lakh.
Ducati Panigale V2 officially teased
Ducati India teased the new Panigale V2 on its social media channel hinting at its imminent launch. The middle-weight supersport is the successor to the Panigale 959 with a styling closely similar to the larger Panigale V4. Besides the fresh design, it also gets a new instrument cluster along with certain hardware tweaks to make it a better package. The 955cc Superquadro motor of the bike has also been updated to make more power and torque. While the Panigale 959 was priced at Rs 14.74 lakh in India, the V2 is likely to cost over Rs 15 lakh.
2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Z650 coming soon
Kawasaki will launch the 2020 editions of the Ninja 650 and Z650 in India soon, as revealed by our dealer sources. Both bikes were supposed to launch during the March-April period but the ongoing lockdown has pushed it ahead. The 2020 Ninja 650 and Z650 have received styling updates along with a few added features. The 649cc, parallel-twin motor has also been revised to comply with new emission norms while the power figures have remained nearly the same as before.
Suzuki electric scooter details surface
A leaked patent suggests that the Indian arm of Suzuki is working on an affordable, no non-sense electric scooter specifically for the Indian market. Going by the minimalistic design and structure of the scooter, it is clear that the company is aiming to develop a short distance commuter for the urban buyers. The placement of the battery also suggests that it might get the battery swapping feature. With Bajaj and TVS already in the market with their electric two-wheelers, Suzuki might also venture into this territory soon but with a more competitive pricing strategy.
BikeWale survey uncovers interesting details
BikeWale conducted a survey over the past few days in which a total of 73,087 users participated. Of all the important findings from this study, the most noteworthy was the fact that 73 per cent people are planning to buy a two-wheeler as soon as the ongoing lockdown ends. While 52 per cent respondents have the budget of up to Rs 1 lakh, 31 per cent are those willing to push it up to Rs 2 lakh.
