The Indian two-wheeler market witnessed some major developments last week. From Hero announcing its electric two-wheeler vertical to the Yamaha MT-15 discontinuing in India, there was a lot that created a buzz on the internet. If your week was too busy to keep a track of all of it, here’s a quick round-up.
Hero MotoCorp has officially introduced the Vida sub-brand for its electric two-wheelers. The company also announced that the first product under this banner will be launched on 1 July, 2022. What’s more, Hero also declared a global sustainability fund of USD100 which will be utilised to collaborate with different companies globally.
Yamaha has discontinued the YZF R15-based MT-15 in India which we’ve confirmed from a bunch of dealers based across the country. The MT-15 has been on sale for a few years now and Yamaha had updated it only on the cosmetic front. The next-generation model though is expected to get major updates like the inclusion of upside-down forks and Bluetooth connectivity.
Honda has registered the design of the CRF 190L Adventure motorcycle in India. So, will it be launched here? We don’t think so. Registering design and technologies reserves them for the brand in case they come up with a new product strategy for the country in the future. Having said that, the CRF190L looks like a perfect fit for India and a worthy rival to the Hero Xpulse 200.
Royal Enfield Constellation trademarked
Royal Enfield has trademarked the name Constellation for one of its upcoming motorcycles. Although the original Constellation was a road-going sporty offering in the 1950s, we expect the recently trademarked name to be used for a scrambler. An Interceptor 650-based test mule with a different exhaust setup was recently spotted and the same bike could be the product in question.
