Yamaha launched two of its most-anticipated motorcycles in India last week while Royal Enfield too gave enthusiasts a couple of updates to talk about. In case you weren’t able to keep a track of all these developments, here’s a quick round-up.
Yamaha finally launched the R3 in India with a price tag of Rs 4.64 lakh. Bookings for the motorcycle have commenced and deliveries are likely to take place early next year. The R3 is brought into India through the CBU route, which is why it has a pricing higher than its competition. The motorcycle goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja 400, TVS Apache RTR 310 and the KTM RC 390 in the country.
Yamaha MT-03 launch
Yamaha also introduced one of the most awaited street bikes of 2023 – the MT 03 in India. It has been priced at Rs 4.60 lakh, which makes it Rs 5000 cheaper than the R3. It is powered by the same 321cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that does duty on the R3. In fact, the entire hardware package of both bikes is nearly identical with design and ergonomics being the only differentiating factors. Just like the R3, the MT-03 is also a completely built-up (CBU) product from Indonesia.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled
Royal Enfield officially unveiled the production version of the Shotgun 650 for the global markets, after showcasing the custom-painted Motoverse Edition in late November. The motorcycle is yet to be launched in India, and we expect it to go on sale in the country by mid-January 2024. It is a factory-custom bobber, based on the Super Meteor 650, but features a slightly different design and revised ergonomics. When launched, we expect the Shotgun 650 to be priced around Rs. 3.80 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 price hike
Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan 450 at the 2023 Motoverse. The prices revealed for all the colour schemes were introductory and are bound to increase from January 1. The base variant of the Himalayan 450 has been pegged at Rs. 2.69 lakh, whereas the Slate colour schemes are priced at Rs. 2.74 lakh. There are two top models – Summit, priced at Rs. 2.79 lakh, and the Hanle Black, at Rs. 2.84 lakh. These models don't differ feature-wise and the differences are limited to paint scheme only.
Kawasaki W175 price cut
The standard variant of the Kawasaki W175 has received a substantial price cut of Rs. 25,000 in India. The motorcycle is now priced between Rs. 1.22 lakh to Rs. 1.31 lakh, for the standard spoke wheels version. The Ebony colour option is priced at Rs. 1.22 lakh, while the Persimmon Red shade costs Rs. 1.24 lakh. There are two newly introduced colour options on offer as well now. The Metallic Ocean Blue is pegged at Rs. 1.31 lakh, while the Metallic Graphite Grey paint scheme will set you back by Rs. 1.29 lakh.
