The world renowned Zero Motorcycles has just unveiled their 2018 electric bike line-up.
These new bikes are all about the gettingir longer riding range and better battery technologies. The company currently has four bikes in its portfolio - the Zero S/SR which is a naked bike, the Zero FX, is an off-roader, the FXS, is a supermoto and the DS/DSR which is a Scrambler. All the bikes are based on the Z-Force platform. The usage of this platform has helped the company use three lithium-ion batteries that now carries 10 per cent more battery energy. These batteries now offer a total city riding distance of 360kms which the company claims, is the best in the market.
The introduction of better batteries have helped inan improvingement in the performance as well. ZF14.4 battery produces 30 per cent more torque and power. ZF7.2 gets a torque increase of 11 per cent. Along with these, Zero Motorcycles has unveiled a new 6kW charging system that can charge the batteries six time faster than the older module. However, this doesn't come cheap. It will set you back by GBP 2300 (Rs 1.97 lakhs).
While India is moving towards clean energy transportation, we don't think Zero Motorcycles will make their presence felt in the country anytime soon. It will be impossible to price their bike without proper subsidies or manufacturing presence.
