Excellent Bike for Road Trip

Waseemuddin Syed

I have never owned this bike but will surely buy this, because I love this bike's look-wise performance-wise moreover what I love is it can be ridden on hilly roads and Panniers with allot less maintenance. I have never seen any negative points in the upgraded model but I saw a few videos of previous versions that bike Handel comes out while driving but never experienced such.

Ride monster!!

1. This is my 1st bike and I feel the very proud owner of my royal enfield Himalayan , it was a great experience when I brought this home.
2. So far I have driven more than 5000 km in 5 months, so people can understand how happy I feel to ride on this beast!! long rides, off-road everything looks so easy and comfortable on this, like never getting tired after riding!!
3. The looks are top-notch if you ride through the city or outskirts, everyone on the road will turn their heads to take a look over this and ask you about the bike details, performance is also good as of now, like riding this much heavy bike and having a great performance is a great combo.
4. Service and maintenance are pretty good which I have experienced till now, as you can get all the bike parts easily in the market and if you book an appointment and give the bike at the showroom the price will be normal, not too much like other big bikes, also re has started a new initiative of checking with the customer by contacting them after few days of service that if the bike condition is good or not after the service.
5. Now about the pros and cons, if you feel to go on tour or normal ride and you want it completely comfortable then I feel this is the perfect bike till date to rides, cons which I have felt till now is the heat which emits while you are riding in the city, that's because it has air cooling system, so it needs space, rest assured apart from that I haven't felt anything bad in this till now, so I feel if you are a new rider or you are fond of travel and touring this is the best you can try in the market with a good decent budget.

The himalayan is easily the most anticipated motorcycle from royal enfield given its positioning as an adventure touring motorcycle.

Get Road

The seat is nicely scooped for the rider and is very comfortable – I was almost surprised at how comfortable I was in the saddle even after 3-4 hours of continuous riding. The himalayan is accessible to shorter riders thanks to a low seat height of 800mm, keeping in mind the average height of Indian riders. We didn’t have panniers on our test bikes, but the mounts for them are a well-executed job, and so are the mounts for the jerry cans on both sides of the fuel tank. The led taillight does its job well while looking nice and sits under a large metal grab rail that also doubles up as a mount for a tail bag. A 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear give the side profile of the bike a likable appearance, in conjunction with the tall handlebar, though I would have liked it to be mounted about half an inch higher for better maneuverability, especially when standing up. The upswept exhaust looks nice and works well in not letting water get in, as I discovered while crossing a rivulet. Functional, well-executed design on the whole. Perhaps the section most bikers would be interested in knowing about, even more than the bike’s abilities. The good news is, the all-new, air-cooled, 411cc single-cylinder engine feels very refined, even close to its 6,500rpm, and has a torquey feel to it. With a relatively healthy 32nm on offer, that isn’t surprising. It is the first re-motor to employ oil cooling. But what I and a lot of other journos on the ride felt was that the engine could have been tuned for some more performance. 24.8ps of power is slightly underwhelming for a motorcycle like the himalayan. A candid chat with siddhartha lal, md and ceo of eicher motors, who also rode with us, justified the output though – the primary target audience for the bike is someone upgrading from say, a 150cc bike. The idea was to keep the power output such that even relatively inexperienced riders can harness all of it, apart from ensuring fuel efficiency figures are good enough for someone to want to buy the himalayan as his daily ride as well.
So, it's a great choice for bikers. Go for it!!!!
