Suzuki gixxer review:
i had been looking for a bike in the 150 cc naked-bike segment since august 2014. I was planning to upgrade from caliber 115 (popularly known as "hoodibaba"). Till august 2014 the crown of the 150 cc segment was worn by yamaha fz/fz-s. But now that crown belongs to the gixxer. After observing its performance and reviews by experts and then its sales trend from september to december, i finally decided to buy this piece of beauty!
i am happy with the way my robin (that's the name i have given to my blue gixxer) performs on streets and even off-roads. I got it from tanishq suzuki, behala, kolkata for rs. 86996/- (On-road) on 15th december 2014. My feedback in a nutshell:
pro's1. Best in class performance: she builds up speed very easily and deceptively. Within no time, i am cruising at 85-95 kmph with no vibrations at all. It's only beyond 95 kmph that i feel some vibrations in the foot pegs. My top speed is 112 kmph.
2. The instrument cluster is the best in class. Besides the usual meters and tell-tale lights, i really appreciate suzuki for providing gear indicator, shift indicator and a handy clock
3. My robin looks beautiful with her sculpted tanks, slim tail and the superbike-like dual exhaust pipe.
4. She's got a great pair of tires. The front mrf zapper 100/80-17 is good, but it's the rear mrf revz-m 140/60-17 that demands special attention. Paired with a stiff suspension, they give me the confidence to lean the bike around corners without the fear of either slipping or bouncing (like in pulsars). I cannot comment on the longevity of the tires as i have only clocked 1500 km so far. Any estimated longevity from the service center's end will be appreciated.
5. The riding position is awesome. She has enough space for the rider to move around, to sit upright and ride like a commuter and even to scoop back and duck and ride like a racer.
Con's:
1. Brakes: the front brake is absolutely fine, good feedback, but rear drum brakes is a downer. When suzuki went on to snatch the crown from the fz-s they should've done everything better than the latter. Rear disc brakes are a necessity for this peppy performer. At least introduce a rear-disc variant of gixxer if not providing it as standard.
2. Illumination: even if an experienced biker manages without rear disc brakes and rides fast, he can only do it at daytime. The illumination is just not up to the high expectations this bike has set for itself. I am surely getting a projector headlamp in future.
3. The exhaust pipe chrome metal cover is loosely fitted. Even a slight push from the hand dislocates it and spoils the looks. It's fitted with nuts and bolts but only on one side. That's a disappointment.
4. Please get me 6th gear!!! enough said. Suzuki totally know they should have given 6th gear.
Overall verdict good value for money. A game-changer in its class.
Pros
engine, instrument cluster, styling, tires, ergonomics
cons
brakes, illumination, fit & finish, absence of 6th gear

Absolutely love this bike..reached 40000kms It's a beast in mid-range performance. I commute about 70kms daily on it never been disappointed so far.. If properly maintained gixxer could be one of the best 150s out there. The things I don't like are the paint quality and the top end. The headlights have an awesome throw. Build quality is great if you don't count the paint quality. The bike has one of the best exhaust notes in the segment especially when it goes at 70-90km/h even after revving it so much I still get about 37 km mileage. The gearbox is a bit clunky. The bike has a low seat height but that doesn't make it uncomfortable for tall riders I'm 5'11 . The rear seat is too uncomfortable in this model but the new seats are great. Absolutely underrated bike. Braking performance is above average. Offroad performance is also great when compared to other bikes in the segment. Overall if I get to choose my first bike again, I will definitely choose the Gixxer. Now I'm buying another one as an upgrade to this one. This time an sf 250.

Good bike for my travel partner. No major complaints still now.I will get 58 millage,He gixxer was the perfect shot in the arm for suzuki when it came out in 2014. In fact, not only did it do well for the japanese manufacturer, the bike also went on to become one of the bestselling 150cc motorcycles in the country. Of course, with a name like that gixxer is what suzuki's sportsbike family is called affectionately by enthusiasts the world over the bike had a certain ring to it besides being a well-packaged machine. A bunch of revised paint schemes over the years has ensured the gixxer kept cash registers ringing for suzuki, but let's admit it, the bike had started feeling dated thanks to competitors upping their game. And suzuki has just done that too with the new, 2019 gixxer. We put the bike through our road test scalpel to see if the new bike can continue the 'gixxer' legacy.

Gixxer 150 - your city commute option

After a point, the servicing cost of the bike goes up a lot. I have driven the bike for more than 1 lakh kms. It has given good support up to a point. This bike can be considered for an occasional commute. The pillion seating is not that comfortable and for long rides, it causes backache. Good for city driving only.

I want to share my experience with suzuki gixxer as the worst choice that i have ever took. Not because the bike is bad but because the after sales service and engineer's knowledge about bike is 0.I found my fuel indicator complaint during my 3rd free service and told them(thopumpady service centre) to replace the part,But they didn't have the spare parts available, this continued till my 10th service and even after that they din't have the spares. But now i had to replace my break pads, fuel float chain sprockets but the service centre didn't have any of these parts and when I reached the showroom to take my bike it was not even touched, they just gave me back my bike saying parts are not available,I raised a complaint with suzuki and then a person from kundanoor(showroom manager i guess) contacted me and said he has arranged all the parts and will service the bike properly, but when i gave my bike chain sprocket was still not available and somehow they got One the next day and changed all the parts it cost me around 4500 for this service and then when i took the bike out it was not starting,They said that the spark plug is complaint and they didn't have a replacement, Then some how bike started and i took it home with lots of frustration in mind,Then the next day when i took my bike out for ride and filled petrol,i saw that the petrol was leaking from the bottom of the tank,I think it's from the area where new fuel float was fixed, you can imagine how dangerous the situation is,It could have resulted in a blast and cause fatality and risk not only to me but the people near that petrol pump,I somehow managed to drain all the petrol and parked my bike in the parking lot near the petrol bunk.

The bike provides comfortable ride and it has really smooth engine but it's ground clearance is bit of a disadvantage and pillion seat is not comfortable for even half an hour of ride. But reliable when comes to traffic and highway rides and it's digital indicator is a plus as it shows the rpm speed and gear you are riding at along with time and other standard details.

Vignesh J
I bought this amazing bike in the second half of 2015 for my daily office commute. I used to maintain it very well.It is a comfortable vehicle to ride on. In the past 6 years, I haven't faced any issues with this bike. Pros : - good engine performance- good milage- long-lasting one - stylish lookCons :- for family, does not suit well as pillion seat is a little bit high.

Good bike

Pathetic service and spare availability though the bike is good. Would have given 0 star for service center support

Made for single riders long drive

The bike provides comfortable ride and it has really smooth engine but it's ground clearance is bit of a disadvantage and pillion seat is not comfortable for even half an hour of ride. But reliable when comes to traffic and highway rides and it's digital indicator is a plus as it shows the rpm speed and gear you are riding at along with time and other standard details.

Bike is good not upto the mark. Service is really really poor. Only good looks doesn't make a bike good it requires an excellence in service too. Bought it on diwali in 2018. Average is quite good, giving 50km/l with light traffic. Top speed to which i ran it 106km/h. Brakes are nice. Abs is really good.
