Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT Summary

Suzuki Motorcycle India’s middleweight adventure tourer, the V-Strom 650 XT has received mechanical upgrades to comply with the BS6-compliant emission norms. The styling, however, has remained unaltered during the BS6 transition.

Thus, the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT BS6 retains the vertically-stacked headlamp, beak-like front faring, a tall windscreen, knuckle guards, and an LED taillamp. The motorcycle is available in two colours – Champion Yellow and Pearl Glacier White. The feature list, too, remains identical to the old model and the V-Strom 650 XT BS6 continues to pack a halogen headlight setup, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and tubeless tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels.

Mechanical specifications include a 645cc, 90-degree, V-twin, liquid-cooled, BS6 compliant engine that makes 70bhp and 62Nm. The motor is linked to a six-speed transmission.

The cycle parts, similar to the BS4 motorcycle, continue to include telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock to perform the suspension tasks. The braking setup comprises twin rotors at the front and a single disc at the back while the safety net includes dual-channel ABS and a three-level traction control system.

Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT Review

  • Good Things

    • Has a smooth-shifting gearbox
    • Comfortable highway riding ergonomics
    • Good low speed ride
  • Could be Better

    • Could offer adjustable suspension
    • The instrument cluster is outdated

BikeWale's Take

The V-Strom ticks all the boxes an ADV should. It offers a refined engine and a slick-shifting gearbox. Furthermore, the V-Strom also has comfortable riding ergonomics and a good low speed ride which makes it easy to ride even the city. However, it misses out on adjustable suspension and at the current price point, it should have received that feature.

The bike is super smooth and comfortable for both city commutes and long rides. Gets the required safety net of abs and 3 levels of traction control. Very good suspension, it does not make you feel tired after any ride. It has amazing low-end torque and at the same time can cruise at 150 all day long vibe-free. Gets spoked tubeless tyres.

      Best adv bike in 650cc

Have ridden almost all bikes in the 650cc segment, and trust me v-strom 650xt seems underpower only on paper. But when you actually ride it you will get to know the difference, the refined engine and gear box is amazing. The comfort on this bike for pillion and rider is way too good. Ergonomics, styling are best for touring hence keeping in mind these features suzuki has built a stupendous bike. Features are more than enough for one to use this bike on touring and on daily basis. Pricing is bit high but considering the quality of parts and engine smoothness you get it justifies the tag. Review based on completely my experience. So try it and then make your decision. Happy and safe riding :)

Awesome bike in 10 lakh category for adventure touring with complete touring setup. It cost me Rs.12 lakh in total and I love it as I can easily cruise it at 150 km/h in highway. Also it's cheap to maintain as compared to Kawasaki mileage is 25 km/l in city and 28-30 km/l on highways. Overall I have made the best decision to buy it over versys it's 1.5 lakh over price is justified over a sports tourer.

It's the best for adventure but to maintain it's fuel efficiency and performance properly service it at Suzuki service center in every 5000 kms.
