Tvs apache rtr 200 the all rounder

Tvs apache rtr 200 4v
I use to own a tvs apache rtr 180 for the past 6 years. 7 months back i decided to upgrade to its young but elder sibling, the apache rtr 200 4v. The buying experience has always been good at tvs for me. The bike was available so booked it in the morning & got the delivery late evening.
Primary use of this bike is touring, almost every weekend the apache 200 takes me to places or it is the home run from mumbai-pune-mumbai. A couple of months back i did pune-bangalore-mumbai on the 200 & the bike exceeded my expectations. It performed beautiful on the highway & i felt 100kmph is the sweet spot of this bike.
City riding is again fun with the 200 as in case of all the apaches the 200 is light & nibble. The suspension on the 200 is more on the plush side as compared to my 180 & it takes potholes and rough roads very well (don't expect a himalayan here). The 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear are just spot on for the city & traffic ride. I usually never worry about scraping speed breakers as the ground clearance is enough to take the big ones.
Pros:
1. Refinement: coming from the apache 180 this thing feels butter smooth. No vibrations till 7000 rpm.
2. Fuel economy: i get around 35kmpl, on sane riding in between 60-80kmph can get you close to 40kmpl.
3. Plush suspension from kyb (the jounce & rebound are on the comfort side).
4. Mirrors offers excellent viewing angle & are rock steady even at 100kmph
5. Best seats in the segment. The seats are perfectly cushioned & you don’t feel uncomfortable even after riding for 500+km in a day.
6. 55/60w headlight with aptly designed reflectors provide the perfect balance of beam spread & intensity.
7. Never faced any heating issues neither in the city traffic nor on the highway.
8. Matt colours are super easy to maintain no worries on swirl marks & stuff.
9. Instrument console is one of the best i have seen with lots of information & stuff you can change according to your need e.G: the gear shift light can be set depending on your riding style.
10. Option for pirelli tires.
Cons:
1. 12l fuel tank can be annoying when you plan to do 1000km in a single day. Miss my 180 with the 16l tank.
2. No kick start.
3. No side stand indicator, tvs scooty pep gets one.
4. The gear sensor sometimes acts funnily showing you neutral even when you are in 1st gear (tvs will replaced the sensor for free). No problem in other gears.
5. Not a con but a 6th gear could have made this bike a perfect highway machine.
6. Same front brakes on the apache 160 & 200 makes me a little sceptical about the braking but the feedback is reassuring.
7. Not really comfortable above 110kmph, being a naked bike the wind hits you hard.
8. Engine oil capacity is increased to 1.2l due to the addition of oil cooler. If you plan to do the oil change by yourself then you have to buy 2 bottles of engine oil even if you need just 200ml from the 2nd bottle. Next time when you plan to switch to a different oil the left over 800ml bothers you & you get the same oil again.
9. Abs version was announced at the time of launch but it is yet to arrive.
Some tips from my side:
1. Use fully synthetic oil for superior performance. Grade 10w30 or 10w40.
2. Lube the chain every 500-700km & clean it every 1500-2000km.
3. Maintain recommended tire pressure.
4. The apache 200 shares most of the parts with the apache 160 & 180 so parts sourcing won’t be an issue. All shares the same mirrors, levers, pegs, oil filter, front brake assembly etc.
I feel all this makes the apache 200 an all rounder & the only bike you will need for your commute & touring desire.

Tvs apache 200 4v the average commuter not so good
7 years ago
Ankit Rana
The looks are awesome. I wish it would be under 300cc segment. As i passed 5 months with this bike, it needs more n more maintenance. Even i got the starter and fuel pump changed within just 5 months. As it's a 200cc bike, the mileage is not good and even performance is gradually decreasing. I would say that it's not a long term bike. The services of tvs are average. Many times with my bike they were not able to understand the problem. Coming to the speed and engine power, it could be more than this but unfortunately it's not. I am just planning to sell my bike now. Fed up now.

Buying experience was not good. They just wash the bike and gave me the bike.. There was no celebrations . Manager of tvs showroom where i bought bike worst behaving... I felt like i was just begging for bike from them. Tyres are just good... If you going for pirelli tyres it will be awesome... But tvs standard tyres are not good as pirelli or mrf tyres... You will get chain noise after 200 km every time chain service was done.... Handing of this bike is very good... Gear sensor not working most of the time...

Best 200 CC segment bike
Sayantan Deb
I have been using my darling for 2.5 yrs. So here are some pros & cons from my side:-Pros- 1. Awesome mileage for 200 CC bike2. Stability is good. Check tyre pressure once in a week.3. Little less power than BS IV, but it's enough.4. Top speed is 132 kmph. And it is locked on that.5. Nice agility.6. Durability.Cons-1. Front braking system issue. Noise may come from the front braking caliper. You have to tighten the nuts or change the caliper.2. Be steady and cautious on bumpy roads or on bumps, because the ABS will deactivate the brakes and you won't be able to brake at high speed. 3. You should attach an additional air-pumped seat if you wanna go on long rides.4. X-connect or Bluetooth connect is a good tool to use, but it is not accurate every time.5. Clear the water drainage line regularly inside the fuel cap, or else if it rains or you wash the bike then the water will go inside the fuel tank and it will mix with the petrol.Bonus tip- check if you have multiple service centers in the area, then find out who has the best service because not all of them are good for servicing.

1.Buying experience :The decision to buy this bike is very complicated for me, as there are six 200cc bike in India. I have ridden all six and I found apache 200 the best in everything.I bought the apache rtr 200 4v race edition abs (white red).2.Riding experience :Very comfortable to ride. Sitting position is really good.3.Looks :I found apache 200 looks better than ns 200.4.Serving and maintenance:TVS gives good service. The maintenance of the bike is low.5.Pros and Cons :At first let's talk about pros-i) very comfortable to rideii) good pickupiii) good handlingiv) comfortable pillion seatv) gives good mileagevi) reliable enginevii) no heating issuesNow the cons-The one and only con I have faced till now is the chain sprocket. TVS gave very low quality chain sprocket for apache rtr 200.It get loose every 100-120km.If TVS give a update to apache 200 with a better and strong chain sprocket then this would be the best 200cc bike.

I first noticed this beast in auto expo by hearing it's exhaust note,i was wondering with that sound it would be an higher cc bike and was bit surprised by this flagship from tvs. It has amazing looks and feel comfort, great low end acceleration and punch, lacks in top speed though compared to it's rivals.Mileage is superb with round 38kmpl, superior instrumental console making it distinct.Overall this bike is good for daily commute as well as short weekend rides, and if you are passionate then no road is longer enough.
