Got mileage of | 40 kmpl |
I bought 160 4v on 5th may 2018. Facing problem from very first day. Have run 1000 km so far. 5 times visited arunagiri tv's kalyan nagar. Even wrote to tvs motors. There technician also unable to fix the problem. It seems it's not basic issue, its issue in its design. Problems:1. Both the disc brakes making lot of noise, while applying. Mostly i heard such sound bus and truck break chchchiiinnnn.... So irritating. Service centre they put some oil, first day it's fine, next day it's same problem. They say it's because of rainy season, isn't it so funny. 2. Major problem is with gears. Not at all swift and smooth. I ride every day 60 km, 30km one-way. Hebbel to sarjapur signal in bangalore. In bangalore traffic you can ride at high or low speed at various stretches. Suppose you are at 4 or 5 gear, as traffic stop suddenly , you apply breaks and spread come down to 10 or 20, in single clutch you need to come down to 4-3-2 gear. Many time gear get stuck. Other issue, when at signal you stop , you are at first gear, it does not come back to neutral. Tvs motors expert advice: change gear at half clutch when get stuck. Non sense. Who the hell will change gear at half clutch pressed in bangalore traffic.3. When you ride at 60-70 speed, and due to traffic you apply sudden breaks, engine make spiting , cracker kind of sound, service man told me it's called engine miss fired. What the hell is that.4. It's vibration and sound like helicopter is roaming around. This is common problem in all tvs bikes.5. Don't go by look, as said it's sports bike. Performance bit better than pulsar 150, less than apache 180. Far away from ktm like bike. It's just sport bike by look, not by performance at all. Sport bike need swift and smooth change of gears. And pick up. Also good breaking system , all should be in sync. I have 13 years of experience in bangalore traffic , almost 80000 km riding experience in bangalore. Before buying , i sorted hornet, fs -z , apache 160 4v. As mileage and ground clearance, single seat with more space was good, i choose tv's 1604v. Now i regret my decision of buy this bike. Soon i will get rid of this bike. And go for better one.Good point about bike: handle controlling is good, not heavy like pulsar 180, apache 180. It's good when you ride in less traffic where you don't need to change gear very frequently. Tvs motors people , either they know these problem, don't want to tell customer. Or does not know how to fix them. Suggestion to company. Please get tested your bikes from professional riders take their feedback, rather then your quality engineer team, to get real time feedback.
Tips for TVS Apache RTR 160 4V
Don't ride it more than 50-60 km/h , until riding it continuously 5-10 km. Engine will make lot of sound , will not support. If you do so, engine will stop automatically.
Find out the list of available TVS Bikes.
The ARAI mileage of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is 41 kmpl. The average of the Apache RTR 160 4V is 45 kmpl, as per the owners of the bike.

The RTR 180 is basically an RTR 160 with slightly more power and a slightly longer wheelbase, a rear disc and fatter tires, it has the same engine bored out to 180cc, apart from this they are almost identical so this review is about both of them.

I purchased 160 4v in 2021, 25000km ridden, mileage is between 37 to 57 depending on how we ride, after free service I used other brand engine oils and even I used 10w40 also. In long rides using True oil drops mileage & engine heats up, it's different to get BS6 spares in the outside market, all we need go to the showroom only

The bike is powerful 160cc. The fastest 0-60 is 3.9 seconds. I have touched a top speed of 139kmph, which is very fast,Looks are subjective but you can not hate the looks of this bike. Looks are inspired by the BMW G310. The headlight is decent. The exhaust is very basic and too good when you rev it at 6000 rpm it sounds too good. Handling is not good because the front suspension is on comfortable. Value for money!

Power: The bike has enough torque and power for daily city commutes and has an amazing feature that drives the bike in traffic without giving the accelerator on the highway it feels okay and we can cruise to 75-85 kmph speed without vibrations Looks: The bike looks modern and contains a dozen features related to it but it's a naked bike so looks very aggressive Comfort: Short rides or Office rides are fun and tweak but for long highways, it is a pain in the hands and back too because of the seat cushion but it's always on the rider who rides it Mileage :- In City:- 42-46 kmpl On Highway:- 52-55+ kmpl

I bought the bike five years before in 2018. The bike ran, smoothly in the initial two and 2 & a half years. But after the fourth year, the parts started to weird out. And the major problem is even though we are willing to repair the bike. The part is not available to the local vendors and even in service centres. It took two and three weeks to fix one small problem.

Overall experience is good and fuel consumption is good at 43 to 47 km/l on your raiding styles. Outstanding bike. The brake system is very good and maintenance is also low. Great experience with the bike. The features are so good. Comfortable seat and style. I have great experience riding the Apache RTR 160 4v Great bike.
