Got mileage of

45 kmpl

I'm a college student and I had been asking my parents for a bike for many months and then somehow finalised this and got it in the month of November. Here are my views on it after using it for 1 month:-
This is a race derived version of the TVS Apache RTR 165 which is used for National Championships. The design is striking, stunning from all angles and is one of the most aggressive looking bikes in its segment. It has a flat handle bar which is comfortable to hold on. The quality of plastics on the switch gear are of good quality and durable. The single piece seat on this bike is soft and comfortable for the rider and pillion as compared to its elder brother Apache 200. The seating position is slightly sporty but comfortable enough for daily commutes. Shorter riders (Below 5'5) would find it difficult to place their foot completely on the ground due to the relatively higher seat height (800mm).
Regarding the performance aspect of the vehicle it is powered by a single cylinder 159.7 cc air cooled engine with an oil cooler which is good enough for 16.4 PS of power @ 8000 rpm and 14.8 Nm of Torque @ 6500 rpm. It redlines at 11500 rpm. The bike is tuned for good mid-range and top end performance. The low end is not punchy but it's adequate for overtaking in the city. The engine is very refined and there are no vibrations until after 7000 rpm where you experience vibrations mainly at the foot pegs and the tank but it's not bad enough to get you unsettled. The heat management is very good and directs the hot air underneath the rider. The gearbox is a 5 speed constant mesh unit and provides for a very slick and smooth operation. The bike consists of telescopic front forks and a gas charged monoshock at the rear (6 step preload adjustable). You also get a 270 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc on the rear. It is worn on a 110 section tire at the front and a 130 section tire on the rear.
Ride quality is very smooth and well damped. The suspension setup is a perfect balance between sporty riding and commuting. High speed stability is good but it gets a little unsettled when encountered by heavy crosswinds. Handling wise, it's very easy to manoeuvre through the city traffic. Can't say about cornering because I still haven't gotten a chance to test it out. Will update my review after the experience.
Regarding braking, The initial bite and progression was slow and had to give in more pedal input to slow down the bike sufficiently.
First service was between 500-750 kms and overall experience was satisfactory. Spare parts are not very expensive and requires low maintenance due to reliability of the vehicle.
To summarise my review here are my pros and cons:-
Pros:
1. Good Performance
2. Ride Quality and Handling
3. Fuel Efficient (40-45 kmpl in city)
4. Low Maintenance
5. Design and overall fit and finish
Cons:
1. Brakes are not very effective
2. Lack of ABS
3. Flat sounding exhaust
I apologise for writing such a long review but I hope this information is helpful to others while taking a decision to buy the bike.

The RTR 180 is basically an RTR 160 with slightly more power and a slightly longer wheelbase, a rear disc and fatter tires, it has the same engine bored out to 180cc, apart from this they are almost identical so this review is about both of them.

I purchased 160 4v in 2021, 25000km ridden, mileage is between 37 to 57 depending on how we ride, after free service I used other brand engine oils and even I used 10w40 also. In long rides using True oil drops mileage & engine heats up, it's different to get BS6 spares in the outside market, all we need go to the showroom only

The bike is powerful 160cc. The fastest 0-60 is 3.9 seconds. I have touched a top speed of 139kmph, which is very fast,
Looks are subjective but you can not hate the looks of this bike. Looks are inspired by the BMW G310. The headlight is decent. The exhaust is very basic and too good when you rev it at 6000 rpm it sounds too good. Handling is not good because the front suspension is on comfortable. Value for money!

Power: The bike has enough torque and power for daily city commutes and has an amazing feature that drives the bike in traffic without giving the accelerator on the highway it feels okay and we can cruise to 75-85 kmph speed without vibrations
Looks: The bike looks modern and contains a dozen features related to it but it's a naked bike so looks very aggressive
Comfort: Short rides or Office rides are fun and tweak but for long highways, it is a pain in the hands and back too because of the seat cushion but it's always on the rider who rides it
Mileage :- In City:- 42-46 kmpl
    On Highway:- 52-55+ kmpl

I bought the bike five years before in 2018.
The bike ran, smoothly in the initial two and 2 & a half years. But after the fourth year, the parts started to weird out. And the major problem is even though we are willing to repair the bike. The part is not available to the local vendors and even in service centres. It took two and three weeks to fix one small problem.

    Prathamesh Patil

I bought the bike five years before in 2018.
The bike ran, smoothly in the initial two and 2 & a half years. But after the fourth year, the parts started to weird out. And the major problem is even though we are willing to repair the bike. The part is not available to the local vendors and even in service centres. It took two and three weeks to fix one small problem.

    Rajesh

The RTR 180 is basically an RTR 160 with slightly more power and a slightly longer wheelbase, a rear disc and fatter tires, it has the same engine bored out to 180cc, apart from this they are almost identical so this review is about both of them.

    Nandan

I purchased 160 4v in 2021, 25000km ridden, mileage is between 37 to 57 depending on how we ride, after free service I used other brand engine oils and even I used 10w40 also. In long rides using True oil drops mileage & engine heats up, it's different to get BS6 spares in the outside market, all we need go to the showroom only

  • Fastest 0-60

    Pavitra Mohan Sharma

The bike is powerful 160cc. The fastest 0-60 is 3.9 seconds. I have touched a top speed of 139kmph, which is very fast,
Looks are subjective but you can not hate the looks of this bike. Looks are inspired by the BMW G310. The headlight is decent. The exhaust is very basic and too good when you rev it at 6000 rpm it sounds too good. Handling is not good because the front suspension is on comfortable. Value for money!

  • The Ultimate City Ride

    Pratik Misal
