Yamaha introduced its low-capacity FZ range in the country back in 2008 which was followed by the Fazer in 2009. Categorized by Yamaha as a Sport Tourer, the Fazer is mechanically identical to the Yamaha FZ16 and Yamaha FZ-S. Yamaha tends to constantly update its range with fresh paint schemes and other cosmetic changes and the Fazer has been through a few of these updates.
The Fazer has semi-fairing and twin headlamps at the front, which sets it apart from the FZ16 and FZ-S. The riding posture of the bike has also been adjusted to make it comfortable for long distance touring. The features the monocross suspension that gives a concentration of mass in the centre reflecting better performance and agile handling.
The Fazer is powered by the air-cooled 153cc four-stroke engine which produces 13.8bhp and 13.6Nm of torque. The performance and power figures are on the lower side for such a muscular looking bike. Power is put down to the fat 140 section rear wheels via a five-speed gearbox. The Fazer gets discs at the front and drums at the rear.
Priced at Rs 81,794 (ex-showroom Delhi), the bike goes up against TVS Apache RTR 160, Hero Hunk and Honda CB Trigger. The Fazer is available in three colour schemes- Ravine Red, Wilderness Black and Terrain White.
The ARAI mileage of Yamaha Fazer [2009-2016] is 44 kmpl. The average of the Fazer [2009-2016] is 40 kmpl, as per the owners of the bike.

My father bought it in 2010 and the first experience is very awesome because this bike has a sporty look with a handlebar which makes it perfect for long rides and daily commutes. Its servicing and maintenance costs are very low. Pros-The engine is very efficient and gives a better mileage of 45kmpl. The seat is very comfortable. Cons-The engine vibrates a little bit at higher rpm and gets heated up quickly.

Worst decision to buy FAZER (waste of money)
Nipun Sharma
I bought Yamaha Fazer in year 2011 left home a bit to buy Bajaj Pulsar but ended up buying a Fazer as the showrooms were almost closed and that decision of mine was proven to be the worst oneVery heavy bike in the segment, riding was smooth but much more expensive as the mileage that was claimed (50km/l) by the co. was never achieved just gave me mileage between 30-35. I have never sped up using the bike as it is said more speed will lower the mileage of the vehicle but still very little mileageif you wanna have a trendy-looking bike then this is the one for you but if expecting value for money don't go for itperformance: if you are looking for high speed vehicle then you can buy it, the balance of the bike is goodservicing: after-sales service is very poor as well as maintenance is very expensive as and when I went for servicing the workers were unskilled every point we have to tell them again and again, if you need some part to be replaced then it took very long to get it.

If you maintain well...This bike is best in class For long rides , city rides . Engine is smooth, Riding comfort is good, for me power is slightly less compared to others in this segment, and we do lot of modifications, top speed is 112, suspension is unimaginable , and radial tyre give you better experience, under 80km/hr there no need of ABS..

After 10 years and 70k kms I'm still happy with Yamaha. Annual average maintenance costs me <5k. I get vehicle serviced for every 2.5k KMS and currently get a mileage of 38 KMPL. Headlamps are modified for both to operate simultaneously, replaced with 30W LED when6I bought the vehicle. Battery replaced once so far.

Average tall persons cannot sit straight and operate this vehicle
6 years ago
Prajan
Hello everyone,I owned my fazer version 1 special edition for my daily usage and also sometimes long trips. Here i'm sharing my travel experience with my bike. Pros : 1. Really looking very stylish and the mirror is just look likes eagle wings while we drive. Feels great 2. Mileage is also good , getting 35 to 40 pl sometimes on long drive getting 43 like that 3. Engine is very smooth , moving sounds good 4. Long drives feels amazing, but little bit fear ( because riding a big & length vehicle on the road)5. Back tyre awesome , such a safety ride, no worry about back tyre 6. Overall performance of fazer is excellent.Cons :1. Important thing this vehicle very suitable for tall person with having long hands.2. Average tall persons cannot sit straight and operate the vehicle long period or distance 3 .Definitely will get back pain and neck pain while drive 70 to 80 km like that.5. Apart from that , vehicle performance is good.

I brought this 5 years ago but i sold it for engine problem.. Because it my fault, the reason is i didn't maintain my bike and i didn't service my bike properly so the mileage was dropped. And my father didn't like this bike because of seating arrangements of this bike was not comfortable for my family..That's the another reason i sold my bike.
but the performance was good at the time of the period many people in tamilnadu brought the bikes and crazy with it..Price also comfortable at the period of the time,i brought yamaha fazer midships gold alloy model for 88,500rs colour of black with gold mettalic alloy was awesome... I love that bike and i missing my bike very much.Love you champ i don't know where you are but i definitely found you at the last edge of life.

My first bike

Richard
Style one of the decent looking rides in the 150cc category. The half ferring looks ok and the overall styling is good.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox cant complain too much as it is a 150cc bike. 14Ps power is decent but extremely sluggish with a pillion rider. I couldnt believe that my generally spirited bike turned in a 100cc ride with a pillion. Dont understand why. I changed the chain- sprocket set, rear wheel bearing, flushed the engine and changed the oil. Yet the power delivery did not improve. What improved was the mileage. Fuel economy is decent. Gearbox is good.
Ride quality & handling ride quality is ok. The suspension is on the softer side. I like to tilt my bike on curves but the soft suspension does not encourage tilting after a small angle. Handling is superb. Very flickable in traffic.
Final words i like the fazer because of the decent styling and the handling. The power, mileage, ride quality, performance is decent for a 150cc bike. Spare parts are cheap considering the yamaha quality. Can be pushed upto 5000 rpm for a decent ride. Post 5k the engine torque starts going down.
Areas of improvement nothing to complain about considering the price. If someone needs more mileage from their bike, i wouldnt suggest the fazer. Seating position is a little forward bent, so long rides on this bike is a no-no.
Pros
paint quality, switches quality
cons
not meant for pillion

Style cnt say super but really good.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox engine is cool and fuel econamy is very less millage ;-(
ride quality & handling good.
Final words
1)style is good ppl wh plan to tak fz gofor fazer for little grand and style
2)ppl wh want ur mother or sister to site in back seat ...This is nly bike u can get in good style
3)no millage all fz and fazer max 36 min 30 fix in mind ,even pulser will give more than 4km
4)pick up is less compare to pulser.....But feel better in riding than pulser
5)no noise while riding in 80 speed also than any other vehicle after 3years also
6)if rain comes no covers for tiers..It will damage driving person as well as back seater
7)if u keep two head lights on ur battery will trouble u in 1year ,no company guarennteee if u keep 2 batterys on ....So in trafic u shd start kicking and troubling
8)if ur petrol complete, bike wnt move even half km in chouke...So always petrol is imp
i hope 100% my feed back will help u ppl
both fz ,fz-s and fazer are same in millage every thing...But fazer is little expensive and stylish look bike.
Areas of improvement
1) millage
2) tier covers and engine cover to help from rain water
3) pick up
4) battery power.
Pros
style, parents and sister can site comfortable in this back seat
cons
1)poor millage 2)poor pick up 3)if we keep front 2 head lites on then battery will go with in 1 year

It is overpriced 88 k at my place for this 14 bhp cr@p. Torque is minimal , pickup is painstaking . Power is just too low for high speed cruising which it is positioned . Even in city it lags behind many others , engine is refined but not high revving . Low torque adds to pickup woes in the city for this relatively heavy bike . It is neither a sports bike nor a cruiser which it claims to be . Better go for puslar 220 or 200 ns by adding just 2-3 k more . Even apache is a better performer than the fazer
pros
styling
cons
overpriced, underpowered
