Owning Yamaha is free from any problems. Want to upgrade my Yamaha from 150 to 250 for weekend rides and occasionally long rides and this bike served my my all purposes.
Because of the light, it is easy to maneuver in the city.
I have experienced 2 service centers and both have not given me any trouble instead suggested things to maintain my bike.
The only 1 con I can say is only for pillion-riding seats for rides.

The bike is amazing and has served me well for the past 5 years. I've ridden it every day, maintenance is affordable and easy to do even on your own. The only sad part is that it only has a 5-speed gearbox, and even on the 5th gear, it still has plenty of power and wants one more gear to fully use the power on hold. The bike looks great and all but needs a 6-speed gearbox to utilize it's full power

Honest Review After Driving 39000 km In 5 Years

      Rahul Tak

I have been using this bike for the last 5 years. The bike is very good to ride in the city or on highways. The special thing is I never had a back pain issue while riding on this bike. Daily I am riding 50km in city traffic. I am getting 34 mileage per liter. The best part of this bike is the seating position. My height is 6 feet 4 and 4 inches and I never feel discomfort on this bike. I have completed more than 39k km driving and then given this honest review.

      Yamaha FZ25 review

      Rohan

I decided to buy this bike last December on a whim. I had done no research on the bike prior to that. I decided i would buy this bike for 2 main reasons: its the cheapest 250cc in the market and it has the reliable brand name of yamaha attached to it. But during that time, most of the showrooms (if not all) around the country had no stock of fz25 and they were waiting for the next consignment of fz25 to arrive in 2 or 3 months. I was ok with the waiting period, so i decided I'd do some research on the bike and understand more about what the bike has to offer. I interacted with fz25 users in forums, social media and in my city to get their feedback. After my thorough research, i figured out one main point, yamaha India doesn't offer the same kind of quality it did a decade back.
Majority of the users i spoke to complained about the bike having ignition problems, engine tappet noises, poor paint quality and poor headlight visibility. But i still didn't care, my heart was set on this bike because the bike fitted my requirement for touring (upright position, good mileage, soft suspensions, more than enough torque and power for our roads).
But the deal breaker was when i finally went to look at the new batch of fz25s that had arrived. I was shocked to find the plastics on the side panels and tail section to be very very cheap! the tail section of the bikes was loose and flimsy. I could literally pull the side panels out (they weren't nailed in)! right next to it was an r15 v4 m and that bike looked premium in comparison, even the plastic used for the body was of high quality. Such kind of low quality standards I'd expect from a Bajaj or an enfield, but never from such a reputed brand like yamaha who are known globally for making high quality affordable bikes. Yamaha India is coasting off of the goodwill the company has earned over the decades and releasing subpar bikes here. All the above reasons have stopped me from booking this bike. It is definitely a value for money bike for what it offers at that price point, but it won't have the typical quality that a yamaha is known for.

      Rtr 200 chain issue

      Rajesh

Rtr 200 is a very good bike. But I had noise in chain from the second day. When I went to service centre they told it's common in this bike. Every time i went to service centre they clean it lube and hand over the bike. After 200 km run the same noise is there.

      Yamaha poor service

      Karthik

After 3000 km of use I feel loss of power. Mileage was not solved at the service centre and they said there are no issues in my bike. I feel a lot of vibration and power issues are there. The fz25 I am using is 2019 bs4 model.

Do not buy Yamaha buy apache or ktm

      Dheeraj

Weight is less, but build quality is compromised. Ground clearance is 0. Shockers work effectively when 2 persons are riding otherwise for single person its hell uncomfortable. Seat is also hard, making it very uncomfortable. Lights go only till 8-10 foot. On turns you cannot see for more than 10-12 foot. Service centre guys charge approx. 5k-6k for every service by saying genuine parts. Only one thing is good. A refined engine, but comfort, ground clearance, lights etc also matters. I recommend not to buy this bike. Total wastage of money. Ktm and Apache are best ones.

      Don't go for it.

      Abhishek Kundu

See it's clear that Yamaha's FZ series bikes are not as good or as refined as their MT series and R series bikes. This bike is actually good enough for nothing, neither does it have good power figures as its competitors such as Gixxer 250 and Duke 250 its instrument console is out dated and doesn't give you the premium bike feeling. The bike is so incapable that it's power and torque figures are always compared with 180-200 cc segments bike. It has nothing extra to offer than its competitors. And one thing for people who have the belief that since it's a Yamaha its refined, yes its refined but not as we expect from the Japanese machines. This level of engine refinement we see in TVS apache series. The bike has ample amount of vibration when revved post 4.5k rpm that means 80 km/h, so you see it's a blunder to make this thing. One thing I would like to make it clear in front of all who are thinking to buy this "thing" please don't waste your money, if you feel you need a 250 cc segment bike then go for the other brand because this is nothing. Just for the sake of name it's 250 cc just a bigger engine won't benefit you much, you won't get that feeling on it which you might be expecting. It's a way old technology which is used on this bike. It has only 2 valves can you believe this. Its brakes are borrowed from r15. I made a mistake and it's my duty to pass on my experience to all. See I made you clear about a fact if you have the money for this bike of approximately 1.85 lakhs please purchase a Honda Hornet 2.0 believe me my friends who bought that beautiful machine are way happier than me they ride it with full mental peace and it's a way way more efficient and practical than this "shit". They get a good mileage of around 48-50 km/l and have enough for weekend trips. This machine has very poor mileage and moreover. Honda has the premium bike feeling it has golden used forks bigger instrument cluster and handling is way better than this just a tiny less power than this 17.5 bhp and 16.1 nm of torque. Go for it, you'll never regret like me.

Not that good as people say...

Lots of vibrations from 45 km/h speed and increases up as you go higher. It becomes unbearable till 80 and you do not feel like revving it beyond 80 -85. It takes its own time to reach 3 digit speed and meanwhile gets lot of vibrations all over the seat, mirror and what not. Not at all good for highway riding. Its good only for city rides. Excellent ride, handling and suspension. I was misguided by youtube reviews as it is said that it has a smooth engine and smooth ride. This is the story at 2600 kms running. After 3rd service there is slight improvement over vibrations and smoothness but still do not feel like taking it out on highways (which was my purpose to buy it) and feel that it will further disappoint me. Thinking of selling it. Maintenance and service is ok, dealer and service center is also good in Pune. Average is around 35 and is less when you drive faster above 75 which you feel like doing sometimes only and get that disappointment of harshness and discomfort.
