Before fz25, i was driving honda unicorn for 6 yrs and wanted to upgrade to a higher capacity premium bike for better riding. Naked street bike with abs, better city ride and handling and higher service interval is my criteria, so i had a list starting from hero xtreme 200, apache rtr 200, fz 25, duke 250 and maximum to bmw 310r. I personally test drove all the bikes, read and watched lot of reviews on all these bikes. Finally selected fz 25.Hero xtreme 200 is too basic and not comparable to other bikes in the list. Rtr 200 is good to ride but not smooth and premium as fz 25, also service interval is shorter and is not suitable even for rare touring . Duke 250 in all terms is better than fz 25, but i was looking for bike with abs without compromise. Duke 250 abs released so late after fz 25 abs. Finally bmw 310r was an awesome bike which will bring lots of brand value then any other motorcycle in this segment. Even they offered the bike with 0% emi and free insurance, there were lot of reviews on higher maintenance cost. Which made me to take it off the list. Now fz 25, Buying experience: i decided on the bike but was waiting for abs variant. Probably i got the first abs variant of the bike in chennai but i waited almost two month after announcement and immediate booking. Follow up with showroom is a horrible experience.Look: it looks muscular and well built, but after launch of fz v3.0 except rear led light there is nothing unique about fz 25. Not impressive as a duke 250.Riding: it drives so well in the city and in highway too. Torque delivery is linear, so driving upto 100km/hr is smooth and vibration free. Handling of the bike is fantastic. In city traffic it is easily maneuverable.Seating: i am 6ft tall, i feel bike is slightly shorter for me. But still i sit comfortable in the wider seat. Pillion comfort is below average. Most people doesn't prefer to sit in rear seat.Braking: front is good and rear is useless. Driving this bike without abs in city will be highly risky. Even now with abs, rear wheel locks very often. Tyres: it offers good grip on normal roads but because of larger rear tyre, braking this bike in gravel will make it slide and increases the risk.Suspension: soft front and hard rear, occasional discomfort will be felt from it.Transmission: clutch is slightly harder, continuous riding in city will cause pain in the left hand. Gear change won't be pleasant. One good is we can even ride slow in higher gears makes it manageable in city. Each time we will expect a 6th gear but that is missing.Service: normally in website service interval is 5000km or 6 months from "last service date", but in service manual for free service it is mentioned as 2 months, 6 months and 1 year from "date of purchase". This is confusing and finally we need to do service as per manual to maintain the warranty.Maintenance: service cost is around 1500 for free service including chain lubrication.Mileage: main advantage of this bike, if offers minimum 30km/liter in city riding.Pros:1) amazing bike to drive in city and can be used weekend touring too 2) bike cost under 2lakhs, maintenance cost is manageable and offers great mileage for a 250cc bike. Cons: 1) there are some senseless elements in the bike like, side mirror (50% of if will show our shoulders for us), instrument cluster (no other bike will have time and odometer on same place and provide a button to toggle),Center plastic design in tank (it started fading immediately and i see scratches for just placing helmet in it) 2) in abs variant they replace exhaust pipe with alloy but still it rusts. Also in many other places i see rusting.3) lack of 6th gear.

Owning Yamaha is free from any problems. Want to upgrade my Yamaha from 150 to 250 for weekend rides and occasionally long rides and this bike served my my all purposes. Because of the light, it is easy to maneuver in the city. I have experienced 2 service centers and both have not given me any trouble instead suggested things to maintain my bike. The only 1 con I can say is only for pillion-riding seats for rides.

The bike is amazing and has served me well for the past 5 years. I've ridden it every day, maintenance is affordable and easy to do even on your own. The only sad part is that it only has a 5-speed gearbox, and even on the 5th gear, it still has plenty of power and wants one more gear to fully use the power on hold. The bike looks great and all but needs a 6-speed gearbox to utilize it's full power

Honest Review After Driving 39000 km In 5 Years
1 year ago
Rahul Tak
I have been using this bike for the last 5 years. The bike is very good to ride in the city or on highways. The special thing is I never had a back pain issue while riding on this bike. Daily I am riding 50km in city traffic. I am getting 34 mileage per liter. The best part of this bike is the seating position. My height is 6 feet 4 and 4 inches and I never feel discomfort on this bike. I have completed more than 39k km driving and then given this honest review.

Better than royal enfield. Superb engine refinement, mileage around 37-40 kmpl which is amazing. Beats all royal enfield bikes in performance and re is nowhere close to yamaha's engine refinement, however, I know RE does not make performance bikes. And even in 250cc segment fz25 is little underpowered but atleast its better than RE . The most amazing part is engine refinement which is what Yamaha is known for and best mileage which are my top reasons to buy this bike. However this bike has an issue with ground clearance which is manageable if you ride alone but need to be taken care of, with a pillion rider

1. Budget-friendly2. Easy & comfortable to ride 3. Funky look with decent performance4. Low-cost service 7 maintenance5. Pros - You can do long & city rides. It's worth its prize on that 250 cc segment and performance is best, brakes are excellent, tire grip to the drifting is best, and services ok but need to improve.Cons - 5 no gears instead of 6 & little low power as compared to 250cc Very smooth, comfortable yet powerful bike. Just got it a week ago and I really liked it. I am 6 feet tall and I guess it would be comfortable for people of any height. The exhaust sound is really impressive too. People are noticing my bike on the roads.

You can go for N250 but this bike is big and looks good and attracts peopleComfortable and easy trick. Maintenance of this bike is very easy. This bike lacks only 2 things 1 additional gear and instrument cluster but when you drive it in city you won't need 6th gear, go for it.
