I got it from local nearby him yamaha showroom. My one is without abs first version of fz25. Abs wasn't available at that time. It's very nimble and flickable at very less secs. It's a great city bike, due to its light weight i.E, 149kgs as a 250cc engine. Handing though traffic is quite easy..As its throttle is very responsive.. Literally very quick. I like how the bike's tanks looks very masculine..As it got rips muscle as well..Not only fluffy looks. Split seat is awesome its gives the looks of racing bike. I love the colour ballistic blue.. It's looks very fresh and attractive..I have done 3rd servicing...Till now the fz25 is doing awesome..!! Pros 1. Good torque 2. Quick throttle response 3. Reliable engine 4. Light weight 5. Low seat height 6. Cheapest 250cc engine 7. Aggressive looks 8. Comfortable seating posture. Cons 1. Lacks 6th gear. 2. Too simple odometer (which lacks gear indicator, side stand indicator, etc.)3. Switches should glow in dark.. For comfortable riding at nights.

During rainy days keep it well covered with waterproof bike covers. And most important Always wear Helmet and if possible motorcycle gears (motorcycle jacket, gloves with palm sliders, elbow, knee guard, boots etc. Don't drink and ride. Be a defensive rider and RIDE SAFE.

  • About my yamaha fz25 and why it is the best.

    Karthik

Hello biker folk.. I am 32yrs and have used almost all company motorcycles of India. After several research and users reviews i first bought a a yamaha bike fz16 in 2009. That's right long back and since then i didn't need another company to change to. Yamaha fz model itself is a thoroughly tested model and have proven this by its success over years. After using it for more than 8 yrs, at the time for me to upgrade to a higher cc bike luckily yamaha has launched its bigger brother yamaha fz 25.This was exactly the higher segment yamaha was lacking since launch of honda cbr 250. But as usual after thorough testing it has launched a perfect quarter liter bike for Indian bikers. 1. My buying experience: i was shocked to know the price of fz25 which is just around 140k onroad hyderabad (where even 150cc honda hornet is more than a lakh). Which beats all 250 cc bike prices hands down.I mean what a competitive pricing for that quality. It fit under my budget so happily bought it in march 2017.2. Riding experience: my experience was exhilarating with its superb mid range pickup. That 20.6 bhp comes in handy from signal to signal revving also. It just scoops the available space before you with ease. Road grip and breaking was also satisfactory. Though, abs is a small lacking part. I would say its only on papers. In actual breaking i didn't feel any fear of skid or lack of abs. Front and rear disc brakes are enough for this bike as it weighs less. With only 148 kg its braking in sudden requirements was safe enough.3. Looks & performance: looks wise its like a big brother of fz series with more sharp corners and huge body. The make, and seating all sits perfect for a naked 250cc bike. Its suits well from a student to middle age employee also. Just that colour combinations could have more choices but mine is ballistic blue which i love a lot. People gaze at the looks when kept in a parking lot.Performance wise i am more than satisfied as its a perfect 20.6 bhp bike which gives you just enough to eat-up any empty road before you with ease. I observe other higher bhp bikes but brothers i say in Indian roads this is all that's needed. Because not a single bike with this pickup also balances on fuel efficiency and give you more than 40kmpl. I bet you can do as much research as you want and not find a perfectly balanced bike with very good pickup (as low weight according to power to weight ratio) and also amazing 40kmpl mileage. You may see examples: kawasaki ninja 250 - 20 to 25kmpl. honda cbr 250 - only 25 to 28kmpl. ktm duke 250 - only 25 to 28kmpl. tvs rtr 4v 200- around 38kmpl. bajaj 200 ns - 30 to 35kmpl. hero karizma - 35 to 38kmpl. Where as my yamaha fz 25 gives- yamaha fz25 - 38 to 42kmpl. yes, royal enfield 350 - has similar 38 to 40 kmpl but it is not at all comparable with this section of revving bikes as it comes in cruiser segment.Pickup wise yamaha stands decent as it gives 20.6 bhp at low rpm. You can compare it with other bikes. Giving good power at low rpm is also important as that gives more life to engine. Which means unlike its competitors, even after 5 yrs and 50k kilometres your bike can be at same ride quality and performance.4. Servicing & maintenance: service of yamaha was always pocket friendly since my experience with the company from 2009. All parts of fz25 are built with same high standard materials as used in its other models. So compared to bajaj, tvs and hero companies servicing is to my full satisfactory. Except for some recent recall for a engine cover bolt change, all is well and good. (in my personal word here, i would say only two companies in India now have the same topnotch make. They are honda and yamaha. I would say they are both equal in maintenance and standards).I happily say that any repairs with fz25 wouldn't burn a hole in my pocket.5. Pros & cons: pros: 1)yamaha itself as am satisfied with its high resale value. I sold my well maintained fz16 after 8.5 years and 50k kms @ 37k which proves its resale. 2)best feature is its whooping 42kmpl mileage which my bike gave between 60 to 70 kms speeds. 3)overall performance wise and pickup in mid range am very satisfied. Perfect for indian traffic and road conditions. 4)low maintenance costs as you need not run for service regularly. Excellent build quality. 5)best pricing. It is definitely a best buy at just 140k for all the good we get. cons: 1)eminent lack of 6th gear after 80km speed. I wondered why they didn't give a 6th gear for a 250cc bike where as they already have it for a 150cc r15. This is by far the only thing i hate about this bike. 2)lack of abs. Though its disc brakes feel safe enough, having abs would be an extra feature to keep mind at ease. but i guess this is solved in the next version as i heard 2018 fz25 models have abs option. those are the only two cons i feel about this amazing fz25. My verdict: my fellow biker brothers, if you want a bike of v.Good 20.6 bhp powered, stylish roaring bike to beat traffic or for tour in country roads which also has a superb mileage of 42kmpl and amazingly comes with pocket friendly price @ 140k-onroad, just blindly go grab a yamaha fz25.

    Amit

Well after selling my pulsar rs 200, i went to ask the price of dominar 400 which suddenly got increased in bangalore . Again lack of money and seeing this bike i booked it and got it in one day . Well the bike is light and handles are excellent, so for daily commute its a sweet deal. But hang on , 1.5 lakhs for this bike is really not worth it i feel , bike looks sexy no doubt but the riding experience and all is same like apache , fz 16 and gixxer kinda bikes so why to waste money just for little aggression and a little power which is not that much. Bike looks good easy to handle and semi comfort seats but a very bad head light , high dipper is like low dipper , gears are really hard , mudguards are waste and the saddest part from side it looks same as fz 16 . From back and front only it looks sexy . They could have given a bit more power and a 6th gear for this price . Brakes are linear and works fine. Over all a good package if your riding in the city most of the time but its over priced only fuel injection is there and no radiator is there for cooling purpose though it doesn't heat much.

    1. I didn't buy but my friend brought and it was good bike it was around 150000 rupees and it was good

    2. Riding this bike is awesome smooth and gear box is very smooth very easy to drive

    3. It's looks awesome and performance also good but mileage is not enough for daily use and abs was also not there so lack of abs will affect this bike

    4. It's servicing was awesome around 1000km after you should service and you should maintain bike very properly

  • The love hate relationship

    Amit Kumar Das

I wanted this bike right after i saw it's reviews on the internet. I finally bought it in july 2017. As long as taking ownership is concerned, it took less than 2 hours to finish paperwork and though i couldn't ride it first hand to way home as my brother was too lenient to ride the bike.2. Riding experience : coming from a decent 150cc fazer i could really feel the power and rush. Acceleration is quite impressive. Seats are comfortable and rider seat is astoundingly wide. Handling is top notch but i feel suspensions are a bit stiff for a street fighter. Its quite nimble and you can easily ride it in highways ad well as everyday traffic. For brakes, i'd say its not that impressive. For a bike of such caliber, you definitely need satisfactory brakes to stop it. But it fades, lacks bite and sometimes feels spongy. Until you have completed your first few thousand odometer readings and really got to know about how the brakes behave, be gentle on the machine. Gearbox might feel clunky at first, just be patient for few hundred kilometres in your tally. 3. Looks and performance : looks wise its a charmer. Though most of the time people confuse it with older fzs, there is actually a little similarity. First and foremost, power and torque figures in paper is not impressive, but it never lets you feel under powered. Mileage is super for a quarter litre engine. Even with weird riding style of mine, i still manage to get 34kmpl mileage. The led headlamps are completely useless on night so drop any night riding plans but shockingly in daytime people just love the looks of it. Weird right? riding position is not aggressive but it can still give you aches after first few rides.4. Servicing and maintenance : servicing cost is manageable. For the first servicing (free) i paid 1200 inr that included engine oil (2 850ml bottles ) oil filter, carbon cleaner, chain clean and lube. The duration of long servicing intervals makes you totally forget there's even some kind of maintenance. As my first servicing was after 2 months of purchasing the bike aka 10 September 2017, the 2nd was in 9 April 2018 and third being 8 October 2018. For this i'd say maintenance cost is pretty reasonable. If you chose not to lube your chain, the servicing cost comes down to 995 inr.5. Pros and cons : as a owner of the motorcycle i have laid down every possible pros and cons of the bike known to me.Pros :A. Good power but excellent torque. B. Good looks C. Handling is top notch D. Great mileage Cons :A. Pretty much a stepped up version of older fzs. B. Not so great brakes. C. Poor performing headlamp D. Stiff suspension.

Best 250cc bike for commuting as well as touring. I have been riding the fzs25 bs6 version from past six months and in this time period I have completed nearly 12000 km's. It may not be as powerful as other bikes in the segment on paper. On- road performance is completely different. This bike has excellent pickup and very good mid range riding quality. The only thing that I feel that Yamaha should have provided the 6th gear to improve the cruising speed and top speed. Slipper clutch would have been a very good add on If provided. Overall the bike is decent and very comfortable for daily commute also.

  • Best city commuter and occasional tourer

    Panneer Selvam

Before fz25, i was driving honda unicorn for 6 yrs and wanted to upgrade to a higher capacity premium bike for better riding. Naked street bike with abs, better city ride and handling and higher service interval is my criteria, so i had a list starting from hero xtreme 200, apache rtr 200, fz 25, duke 250 and maximum to bmw 310r. I personally test drove all the bikes, read and watched lot of reviews on all these bikes. Finally selected fz 25.Hero xtreme 200 is too basic and not comparable to other bikes in the list. Rtr 200 is good to ride but not smooth and premium as fz 25, also service interval is shorter and is not suitable even for rare touring . Duke 250 in all terms is better than fz 25, but i was looking for bike with abs without compromise. Duke 250 abs released so late after fz 25 abs. Finally bmw 310r was an awesome bike which will bring lots of brand value then any other motorcycle in this segment. Even they offered the bike with 0% emi and free insurance, there were lot of reviews on higher maintenance cost. Which made me to take it off the list. Now fz 25, Buying experience: i decided on the bike but was waiting for abs variant. Probably i got the first abs variant of the bike in chennai but i waited almost two month after announcement and immediate booking. Follow up with showroom is a horrible experience.Look: it looks muscular and well built, but after launch of fz v3.0 except rear led light there is nothing unique about fz 25. Not impressive as a duke 250.Riding: it drives so well in the city and in highway too. Torque delivery is linear, so driving upto 100km/hr is smooth and vibration free. Handling of the bike is fantastic. In city traffic it is easily maneuverable.Seating: i am 6ft tall, i feel bike is slightly shorter for me. But still i sit comfortable in the wider seat. Pillion comfort is below average. Most people doesn't prefer to sit in rear seat.Braking: front is good and rear is useless. Driving this bike without abs in city will be highly risky. Even now with abs, rear wheel locks very often. Tyres: it offers good grip on normal roads but because of larger rear tyre, braking this bike in gravel will make it slide and increases the risk.Suspension: soft front and hard rear, occasional discomfort will be felt from it.Transmission: clutch is slightly harder, continuous riding in city will cause pain in the left hand. Gear change won't be pleasant. One good is we can even ride slow in higher gears makes it manageable in city. Each time we will expect a 6th gear but that is missing.Service: normally in website service interval is 5000km or 6 months from "last service date", but in service manual for free service it is mentioned as 2 months, 6 months and 1 year from "date of purchase". This is confusing and finally we need to do service as per manual to maintain the warranty.Maintenance: service cost is around 1500 for free service including chain lubrication.Mileage: main advantage of this bike, if offers minimum 30km/liter in city riding.Pros:1) amazing bike to drive in city and can be used weekend touring too 2) bike cost under 2lakhs, maintenance cost is manageable and offers great mileage for a 250cc bike. Cons: 1) there are some senseless elements in the bike like, side mirror (50% of if will show our shoulders for us), instrument cluster (no other bike will have time and odometer on same place and provide a button to toggle),Center plastic design in tank (it started fading immediately and i see scratches for just placing helmet in it) 2) in abs variant they replace exhaust pipe with alloy but still it rusts. Also in many other places i see rusting.3) lack of 6th gear.

I had bought this bike on 17-9-18 not even 2 months old facing an issue with handle wobbling while riding on speed around 65 to 70 kmph. Raised an complaint engineers had no answer for the same worst product form yamaha. Suggesting customer not to buy this bike, as they are not ready to provide user a proper support.

  • More than meets the eyes - Yamaha is a practical everyday quarter litre bike

    Tarun Kumar Pandey

    1. The buying experience of buying a Yamaha was really amazing at JM Yamaha motors, Noida. Paper work was hassle free and from the day I bought this bike till date, they have been really courteous and attentive to me. Specially, the service manager and showroom owner.
    2. Bike's seating/riding ergonomics is spot on compared to a mix of many motorcycles. The handlebar is wide like a street bike, upright like a cruiser bike, tilted at an angle like a sports bike (with also a bit raised foot pegs which makes the riding fun). Also, the split seats are amazing in terms of space and cushion. This bike can give you sports as well as a cruiser feel. I am obsessed with its riding dynamics.
    3. Looks are phenomenal. Even the bike of it's segments are dwarfed in front of it (it's true and i am not kidding). My bs4 model looks more intidimating than Dominar 250 and Gixxer 250 from the frontal area. The swept up tail with neatly designed saree guard integrated into the rear mudf lap shows Yamaha's attention to detail. This bike has a good torquey low and mid range punch which becomes blunt when revved upto its 9650 rpm redline and makes this bike easily cruise at 100 km/h at 6730 rpm in its tall 5th gear. Engine is smooth below 7k rpm and becomes rough above that, becoming satanic on the redline. The clever sprocketing in this bike makes it faster in quarter mile race than its rival bikes. Its quite light when compared to competition and that could be sensed in city's bumper to bumper traffic. First three gear ratios being short and the rest two being tall makes it an excellent city as well as highway bike. Heat management is excellent as well and oil cooler does its job fairly.
    4. Normal servicing is pocket friendly ~ rupee 1.2k to 1.5k, whether it's paid or free (except the oil filter which is way more costlier when compared to competition) but when a running part is changed its way more costlier than the competition (being a yamaha owner in India, you have to bear this pain as their parts are always costlier). Also, the yamaha service centres charge a lot on the name of labour charges and then charge got over the latter, making it even more costlier. Regarding maintenance, this is a proper no-non sense bike - enough said. Its made for rough everyday usage and ocassional weekend long rides. Except the rear disc pad change at every 8k to 10k kms (front disc pads usually last longer) and periodic (every 500 kms) chain cleaning and lubing, all this bike needs is a tank full of gasoline.
    5.. Pros -
    A. Linear & torquey power output and well distributed gear ratios
    B. Fuel economy is high in its segment
    C. Beefy muscular looks flaunted by a robotic fascia and well sculpted & engineered rear end.
    D. Riding ergonomics and split seats with good seating area and comfort for both - rider and pillion
    E. Bike with the best butter smooth engine (below 7k rpm) in its bs6 price range of rupees 1 lakh 34 thousand (ex-showroom, Delhi)
    F. Smooth and bassy exhaust note - typical Yamaha
    Cons -
    A. Headlight (bs4) is like a mini torch instead of a proper headlight
    B. Instrument console is pathetic viz. Reminds me of Casio calculator
    C. Parts cost are high when compared to the competition.
    D. Rusting and rear brake pad issue is persistent in earlier models (non-abs bs4)
    E. Engine needs a serious overhaul. It's in a dire need of a 4-valve head setup to breathe-in air freely, to rev high and smooth, in its top end. Also, a bigger oil-cooling radiator might assist this bike for long hauls on highway.
If these things are done, then only could the bike ask for a potent and well distributed 6-gear transmission.
    F. The front suspension leak and swing arm bush corrosion is imminent in the whole fz series right from the inception of fz16 and Yamaha has done nothing till date to curb it out.

  • About my yamaha fz25 and why it is the best.

Do not cut cost, lube your chain. If you want consistency in performance, always have your fuel tank half filled or only half empty. The FI system reduces performance when low on fuel (0~4 liter).

Do not cut cost, lube your chain. If you want consistency in performance, always have your fuel tank half filled or only half empty. The FI system reduces performance when low on fuel (0~4 liter).

Do not cut cost, lube your chain. If you want consistency in performance, always have your fuel tank half filled or only half empty. The FI system reduces performance when low on fuel (0~4 liter).

Avoid parking this bike in direct sunlight and wet/damped area as this may cause starter problems. Always clean & lube chain at every 500 Kms. Get the fuel injector cleaned at every 10k Kms and Throttle Assembly & Fuel Pump cleaned at every 30k Kms. Add Yamaha carbon cleaner fluid to the fuel tank at every service.
