Its lightweight chassis and powerful engine make it ideal for urban commuting and spirited rides on twisty roads. However, some riders note that its suspension setup may feel stiff on rough roads. Overall, it's praised for its combination of performance, style, and versatility.
Sure, here's a detailed breakdown of the looks and performance of the Yamaha MT-15:
1. **Looks:**
- **Aggressive Styling:** The MT-15 features a striking and aggressive design language, with sharp lines and edgy aesthetics.
- **Naked Street Fighter Design:** Inspired by Yamaha's "Dark Side of Japan" theme, it boasts a minimalist and muscular appearance, resembling a street fighter bike.
- **LED Lighting:** It comes equipped with LED headlights, tail lights, and turn signals, adding a modern and premium touch to its appearance.
- **Digital Instrument Cluster:** The bike sports a fully digital instrument cluster that provides riders with essential information such as speed, rpm, fuel level, and gear position.
- **Sporty Color Options:** Yamaha offers various color options to suit different preferences, ranging from vibrant to understated shades.
2. **Performance:**
- **High-Revving Engine:** The MT-15 is powered by a high-revving 155cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine, delivering a peppy performance.
- **VVA Technology:** Yamaha's Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology enhances low and mid-range torque while maintaining high-end power, ensuring a thrilling riding experience across various rev ranges.
- **Smooth Transmission:** It comes mated to a smooth-shifting 6-speed gearbox, enabling precise gear changes and efficient power delivery.
- **Agile Handling:** Thanks to its lightweight chassis and compact dimensions, the MT-15 offers agile and nimble handling, making it well-suited for navigating through city traffic and tackling twisty roads with ease.
- **Braking and Suspension:** The bike features a capable braking system with disc brakes at both ends, providing reliable stopping power. Additionally, its suspension setup, although on the stiffer side, offers stability and control during spirited rides.
Overall, the Yamaha MT-15 combines aggressive styling with exhilarating performance, making it a popular choice among riders seeking a dynamic and versatile naked street motorcycle.
Service and maintenance of the Yamaha MT-15 are generally straightforward and manageable. Here's what you can expect:
1. **Regular Servicing:** Like any motorcycle, the MT-15 requires regular servicing as per the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. This typically includes tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, chain adjustments, and general inspections to ensure all components are in good working condition.
2. **Authorized Service Centers:** Yamaha has a network of authorized service centers where trained technicians perform maintenance and repairs using genuine parts and equipment. Visiting authorized service centers ensures that your bike receives proper care and attention from professionals who are familiar with Yamaha's standards.
3. **Maintenance Costs:** The cost of servicing and maintenance for the MT-15 can vary depending on factors such as labor rates, parts prices, and the specific service required. Generally, routine maintenance costs are reasonable and comparable to other bikes in its class.
4. **DIY Maintenance:** Some basic maintenance tasks, such as chain lubrication and cleaning, can be performed by the owner with the help of the owner's manual and basic tools. However, more complex procedures, such as engine tuning or electrical repairs, are best left to trained professionals.
5. **Warranty Coverage:** Yamaha typically offers a warranty for a certain period or mileage, covering defects in materials and workmanship. It's essential to adhere to the manufacturer's recommendations for servicing and maintenance to ensure warranty coverage remains valid.
Overall, servicing and maintaining the Yamaha MT-15 should not pose significant challenges, especially if you follow the recommended schedule and utilize authorized service centers when needed. Regular maintenance helps keep the bike running smoothly and ensures optimal performance and longevity.
Certainly, here are the pros and cons of the Yamaha MT-15:
**Pros:**
1. **Aggressive Styling:** The MT-15 features a bold and aggressive design that stands out on the road, giving it a distinctive look.
2. **Responsive Engine:** Powered by a high-revving 155cc engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, the MT-15 delivers impressive performance with excellent low and mid-range torque.
3. **Agile Handling:** Its lightweight chassis and compact dimensions make it highly maneuverable, perfect for navigating through city traffic and tackling twisty roads with ease.
4. **Comfortable Riding Position:** The upright seating position and well-designed ergonomics provide comfort for both short rides and longer journeys.
5. **Modern Features:** Equipped with LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, and optional ABS, the MT-15 offers modern features that enhance convenience and safety.
6. **Versatility:** Suitable for both daily commuting and spirited rides, the MT-15 strikes a balance between practicality and performance.

**Cons:**
1. **Stiff Suspension:** Some riders find the suspension setup to be on the stiffer side, which may lead to a slightly firm ride quality, especially on rough roads.
2. **Limited Pillion Comfort:** The compact rear seat and minimal padding may not provide the same level of comfort for passengers, especially during longer rides.
3. **Lack of Wind Protection:** Being a naked street bike, the MT-15 doesn't offer much wind protection at higher speeds, which could be a concern for some riders during highway cruising.
4. **Small Fuel Tank Capacity:** With a relatively small fuel tank capacity, riders may find themselves needing to refuel more frequently, especially on longer rides.
5. **Limited Storage Space:** Like most naked bikes, the MT-15 lacks storage options, such as under-seat storage, which can be inconvenient for carrying small items or essentials.
Overall, the Yamaha MT-15 offers an exhilarating riding experience with its combination of aggressive styling, responsive performance, and agile handling. While it may have some drawbacks, it remains a popular choice among riders looking for a versatile and exciting naked street motorcycle.

Tips for Yamaha MT 15 V2

One important maintenance tip for Yamaha MT-15 owners is to regularly inspect and lubricate the chain. A well-lubricated chain not only ensures smooth power transmission but also extends the life of both the chain and sprockets. It's recommended to clean and lubricate the chain every 500-700 kilometers, or more frequently if riding in dusty or wet conditions. Additionally, maintaining the correct chain tension is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Regularly check the chain tension as per the manufacturer's recommendations and adjust it if necessary to prevent premature wear and tear.

I have owned MT 15 V2 since 2022, this bike is good for city ride, the handling of this bike is very good, performance is at its peak, the bike gives good mileage, and it's a nice sporty bike that a youngster needs, Yamaha service is so good that he gives good service, and the paint is also good. The Pillon seating position is bad, this bike has a radiator fan issue and sometimes the headlight looks less.

MT 15 is worth buying. The reasons are:
Looks: Mt 15 is easily the best and most quirky-looking naked in India below 300cc category. The vermillion white color looks sensational. The rear of the bike also looks quite fabulous and reminds me of MT 07/09
Engine: Arguably the best engine below 200cc available in India. Fantastic NVH levels with adequate power coupled with lower weight make it a hoot to ride. The 6th gear makes it an effortless bike on highways. Also, it returns an impressive mileage of 40-50 km/l if ridden at a sedate pace.
Technology: It comes mated with a Slipper clutch, single-channel ABS, and VVA tech. The slipper clutch and VVA work flawlessly in this bike. Furthermore, the backlit instrument panel not only looks good but also shows an array of ‘useful’ features such as dynamic FC, average mileage, average speed, twin trip meter, gear indicator, LED projector lamp, and clock.

I bought MT 15 in April of 2024 and it's been 5 months I love this bike. As usual Yamaha engine is so refined and gives good performance too with 55 km of mileage per ltr and wherever I go the beast looks of the bike is attractive to people around with the excellent road presence. And also the breaking system comes with dual ABS and transaction control system making the bike very safe and safety and mileage are the main factors that I like and made to buy this Yahmaha MT-15

  • 5000km ride review of a new rider

    Noel Biju

So the Yamaha MT 15 V2 is an amazing bike. Though the initial delivery experience and experience with the staff of the bike showroom is the lowest and the worst I have experienced as far as I can say. They were so rude and they did not follow the instructions that were provided at the time of booking the bike. We had to wait for 4 to 5 hours to take the delivery of the bike from the showroom and I have to say the customer service has to be improved a lot. Coming to the bike, starting with the performance I have to say it's amazing. Not that cruel for new riders yet it gives the adrenaline rush a youngster needs. And have to say the mileage of this bike is top notch clocking in around 53 to 56 kmpl. The best so far I have achieved is 58kmpl while riding at a constant and cruising speed. Apart from this the looks of the bike are good and being a small bike it is fairly easy to maneuver through bumper-to-bumper traffic and it has good low-end performance to ride through the traffic conditions. The gearing of this bike is hard in my opinion. The gears feel a little stiff.
The breaking on the other hand is impressive with dual channel abs and traction control along with dual disc breaks it has the power to stop the whole bike. Coming to the ride comfort of the bike I am very disappointed and it's not a bike for the Indian roads. The suspension being very stiff transfers the jerks and vibrations of medium to large size potholes and cracks on the road. On slow speeds, the suspension set-up is okay okay with minor to medium bumps and sometimes the larger bumps and potholes being bearable. The seat comfort is purely outdated. The seats are not at all cushioned and this makes it a daily commuting bike I have to say the Raider 125 feels better in my opinion compared to the ride quality and seat comfort of Mt 15. If you are to carry a pillion I would have to say to you to choose any other options in the market as it has little to no space for a pillion to sit properly and they too will have a poor ride quality. The pillion seat is very small and uncomfortable. If you are a person going for long rides then be ready to face severe back pain from its sporty posture. There are noticeable vibrations throughout the chassis and frame when you go beyond 70 kmph. Though it's fairly bearable the vibes creep in after 80 to 90kmph. I would highly recommend a luggage carrier with the seats to be modified if you are gonna buy this bike for the family commute. Overall I have to suggest you to test ride the bike before riding and make sure to drive different kinds of bikes before committing to buy a certain one. It is an amazing option for the youths and youngsters to take to college or office. The seat and the suspension setups are the major minus points of this bike and please make sure it's okay for you in the long run before purchasing this bike. The performance, fuel economy, dimensions, and weight of the bike are the plus points as they make the bike a considerable option to buy. Also, the lights are not that good but they aren't bad either so for nighttime riders, especially in the foggy areas I would say to buy a set of good aux lights for their commutes.

The Yamaha MT-15 V2 mileage generally ranges from around 47 km/l, The Yamaha MT-15 V2.0 runs on a 155 cc liquid-cooled engine, which keeps it cool even during long rides. It’s got Yamaha’s smart VVA technology that boosts performance. The engine produces 18.1 bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, so it’s quick and responsive.
