Yamaha Fascino 110 Summary

The Fascino is Yamaha’s lifestyle scooter in the Indian market. The scooter sports a neo-retro design language with its main target buyers being the urban youth.

The Fascino gets a distinctive appearance due to its curvy styling which flows right from its front fender to the tail lamp. It also sports bits of chrome on the bodywork and mirrors to accentuate its retro characteristics. The scooter features a large 21-litre underseat storage capacity which is good enough to accommodate a full-face helmet. Apart from that, the Fascino also gets a cubbyhole in the front apron that is capable of holding a mobile phone and a hook under the front end of the seat.

It is powered by an 113cc air-cooled single-cylinder ‘Blue Core’ engine that produces 7bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.1Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. This unit is mated to a continuous variable transmission (CVT). The scooter rides on 10-inch wheels with 90/100 section tyres on both ends. Conventional telescopic forks at the front and a link-type suspension at the rear take care of suspension duties. The Fascino gets 130mm drum brakes for both ends. While the company doesn’t offer a disc brake for the front even as an option, it does come equipped with Yamaha’s Unified Braking System. The scooter weighs 103kgs and gets a 5.2-litre fuel tank capacity.

The Fascino is available in seven colours- Sassy cyan, Dazzling grey, Beaming blue, Dapper blue, Glamorous gold, Season green and Darknight. It competes against the Honda Activa-i, Honda Dio, Hero Maestro Edge and TVS Jupiter.

BikeWale's Take

The Fascino is a stylish scooter from Yamaha. It offers a decent combination of performance, comfort and practicality. However, the scooter is quite old now, and needs a big feature upgrade.

Yamaha Fascino 110 Expert Opinion

The Fascino is the fourth member in Yamaha’s range of 110cc scooters. In just three months since its launch, the Fascino has become its top money spinner. Complete with neo-retro styling, the Fascino is being pitched at the youth with the lifestyle vehicle tag.

What is it?

The Fascino is the fourth member in Yamaha’s range of 110cc scooters. In just three months since its launch, the Fascino has become its top money spinner. Complete with neo-retro styling, the Fascino is being pitched at the youth with the lifestyle vehicle tag.

How does it ride?

The riding dynamics of the Yamaha Fascino are quite similar to Ray and the Ray-Z. This is not very surprising, as all three scooters share most of their mechanical bits, including the engine, frame, suspension and the brakes. The 113cc single-cylinder engine delivers 7bhp and 8Nm of torque through a CVT transmission, which makes the Fascino one of the least powerful scooters in India. Nevertheless, it feels very refined and has a strong mid-range that pulls cleanly till an indicated 80kmph. The suspension setup in the Fascino comprises of telescopic forks at the front and an offset unit swing rear suspension in the rear. Braking for both wheels is taken care off by 130mm drum brakes.

The Yamaha Fascino feels light and nimble, and is quite adept at cutting through traffic. The suspension is on the firmer side, which gives the Fascino a planted feel at high speeds and while taking corners. However, the front suspension doesn’t respond well to broken roads, as most of the shocks are transferred directly to your wrists. The handlebar also tends to shudder every time you ride over bumps and potholes, and even under hard front braking. The Fascino doesn’t score high in pillion comfort either. Despite having a comfortable seat, the bouncy rear suspension tends to wear out the back and the thighs of the rear seat passenger during long rides.

Anything else I should know?

The Yamaha Fascino takes a divided approach to the styling. While the front looks smooth and elegant in true retro style, the rest of the body gets a curvy and flowing design hinting at a modern approach. This contemporary touch in the Fascino’s styling brings out the best of both worlds. The seats are large and roomy, and offer good comfort for the rider and the pillion (marred only by the weak suspension). The shallow underseat storage is spacious enough to fit your raincoat, scooter’s papers and a bunch of other small stuff, though it cannot accommodate a full face helmet. The floorboard has enough room to fit big backpacks, but then you would have to compromise on leg space there. For the ones that cannot do without their cellphones, the  small and deep cubbyhole near the ignition slot works as a handy pouch. The Fascino gets a minimalistic instrument cluster which integrates gets a speedometer, fuel gauge and an odometer. The fit and finish of the panels and the switchgear is befitting a premium scooter.

Why should I buy one?

The host of appealing paint schemes, retro styling with just the right amount of chrome, and the lucrative price tag make the Yamaha Fascino a very desirable vehicle. The Fascino is offered in five trendy paint schemes (this sassy cyan colour is my personal favourite). Yamaha has taken a smart approach by giving the Fascino a 113cc heart. This might have affected the scooter’s performance, but it has also helped the Japanese manufacturer outdo Vespa when it comes to one the most crucial aspects - pricing. At Rs 52,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Fascino is the perfect vehicle for someone looking for a budget lifestyle scooter.

Where does it fit in?

Given the way it has been designed, the Yamaha Fascino seems like a direct rival to the entry-level Vespa – the Vespa LX. However, considering the significant disparity in price and the engine capacity, the Fascino actually sits a level lower than the Vespa LX. Despite this, the Fascino doesn’t lag when it comes to offering a retro feel with a premium package, at a very lucrative price. This in itself is a plausible explanation for the Fascino’s success in the Indian market.

I bought this bike in 2017 in Hyderabad and used it for my daily commute,
I used to travel daily 100 km up and down, I didn't have any problem with the bike it was so smooth and comfortable even on long drives.
I definitely recommend this bike as it has the best driving and comfortable experience with stylish looks.

Fascino(2018): the delivery and after sale service is good....If you have any problem they will try to sort out quickly as possible..
Con's : terrible brakes and shocks and engine vibrations are high for daily commute drop it that's all no more explanation. I've kind of a person who test mileage often (40-45 km/l only (tank to tank method)).

I'm writing this review after almost 5 years from the year of purchase of this scooter. Initially is used it mostly for the daily commute within my city mostly to station and back, and occasional trips on weekends, the average during the initial days was close to 63-66 kmpl as advertised but now its somewhere between 45-50 kmpl. Its not run that much therefore even after 5 years I'm yet to cross the 5000 km mark. Pros- good mileage, great looks, value for money. Cons- engine could have been smoother, suspensions are average, breaks could have been better.

It is a great experience to me to buy this scooter. Although i have travel long distance with it. It is user friendly machine. However riding range is limited due to small capacity fuel tank. Pros-*playful motor.*showstopper.*aerodynamic sleek body.* good handling. Cons-*rear tire slip easily.*less durable.*churning noises come out from the body components.

      Pushpashil Nagvekar

I have a experience of one year of this bike, engine is smooth and reliable, runs smooth without any noise, yamaha braking is fantastic as compared to maestro and activa, doesn't scare me , styling is good , rear shocks are worst with pillion rider it's very uncomfortable, mileage is very bad around 25 to 30 , it will finish all your money in petrol so daily commuters please beware of this, the service centre doesn't have a solution for mileage issues, service is ok , battery got spoiled within 8 months, handling is good , service is good in Goa.
