Ninja 300 (120km review)
Saurabh Sharma
Style
it is a bike which will attract quite some attention on road while you are driving. It is actually longer than its big brother 650cc ninja. Beautiful, attractive and agressively designed bike.
Engine performance, fuel economy and gearbox
the fuel economy claimed is 25kms per litre, i have ridden about 128kms and am down by 2 ticks in the fule gauge ( there are 6 in all before the last one starts blinking) extrapolating i may get around 23 to 24 kmpl which is pretty decent. There is an optimal riding fuel indicator which stops appearing in case you are driving in the wrong gear. For the first 800kms it is advised that you dont get to go beyond 4000rpm which translates to around 54kmphr.
It comes with a six gear gearbox and as i said, gearshifting is not a problem at all. The engine sound is music to ears but is very controlled and is not loud.
Ride quality & handling
the ride quality is amazingly cool, while riding the bike at low speeds too, the balance of the bike remains awesome. It does not complain if you are driving in the first two gears, this is something very common on mumbai roads while commuting to the office everyday. Have driven it for over 100kms till now and i am enjoying every minute of it. I am not a biker at heart and wanted to try a higher cc bike, although the price of this bike is on the higher side, but it is worth every penny.
The turning radius of this bike is larger than the smaller ones but in a day or two you getused to it. The rear view mirrors are foldable. The daylight running light (low beam) is too powerful and even the tiniest of the potholes are visible at night. The high beam is most of the times not required at least in the city driving.
Gear shifting is a pleasure with the slipper clutch. The engine braking can be put to good use while downshifting.
I am a little concerned about driving during the rainy season as there is no abs version for this bike. The colours available are white and green. While ninja lovers will abide with the signature green colour i will strongly recommend the white colour.
The pillion riding is not good and comfortable at all. Do not plan to take the bike in case you are married, this could result in one of the reasons for an altercation, my case the ride with my wife is for only 10 kms so i took a chance. This is a bike which believes in the saying with great power (39hp) comes great responsibility, it gives you a lot of control while riding and does not tempt you to go higher up in the revs. During the test drive itself i could gauge that.
The crash protector is a must for this bike this is notonly for the bike but also important for your foot so that the 172kgs beast does not pulverise it.
Final words
riding this bike is sheer pleasure. The moment the bike starts rolling the twin parallel engines revs give an awesome combination of vibration and controlled accelaration. Of course you will be the first one to be seen after the signal turns green the 0 to 60kms in less than 6 secs. Overall a very good bike gives a big bike feel and stands apart from almost all the bikes.
Areas of improvement
can come up with the abs version this will also help in controoled braking during the rainy season. The pillion rider seat can be ergonomically designed better.
Pros
looks, control, ride quality
cons
price, no abs version available

Kawasaki ninja 300. Detailed 1 year ownership review of the baby kwacker.
Nakul Rana
Buying experience:This was the best part of the ownership. Walked in to the dealership and i just gawked at the motorcycle. It looked beautiful parked there. The size is perfect and the design clues from the elder sibling zx10r could be seen. The dealership provided all the help with the loan and with a booking amount of 35k, they did the pdi. I could ride off with the motorcycle the same day i chose to buy it. No waiting hassle and it was all sweet.Riding experience:Butter smooth engine with almost no vibrations at all. The first 1600 kms were a test of patience. I took a small 500 km round trip to my parent's house for the initial running in on the next day of purchase. Maintaining the 60 km/hr break in limit during this trip was the toughest thing i have done on this motorcycle. However, once the running in was done, i got to flex the parallel twin to the 13,000 rpm red line and boy what a sound this engine has. I have also ridden other motorcycles with parallel twin engines like the yamaha r3 but this one is exquisite! it doesn't pull hard like the ktms in its initial rev range but becomes totally alive past 7000 rpm. For cruising, 90 km/hr is the sweet spot as at that speed it goes completely smooth and silent. The bike is heavy and fat though and the weight can be felt on the ghat roads. The stock tyres that i got (irc) didn't help much either as they are unpredictable with the grip limits they have. The brakes are progressive and have adequate stopping power but lack bite which was needed to control the momentum. About riding experience, i can say its bittersweet. It suits my requirement but those wanting to throw it around tracks might find other bikes like ktm easier to maneuver. This bike loves to be revved but i wish the riding dynamics were slightly better. Oh! its comfortable though. Very comfortable. I can do many hours of riding without getting tired. The handlebar position is perfect and it feels just about right. Suspension is perfect too.Looks and performance:The area where this machine beats anything else hands down are the looks. From every angle, it looks perfectly well proportioned and beautiful. I have even looked at it lying down on the road. It is just more beautiful than anything worth the same price out there. When you ride it, people just look at you. This thing is quite a head turner and if somebody fails to see it, you can rev it on your way out on the road and the exhaust note does the job. It sounds much more expensive than what it costs. The performance is adequate. Its not the fastest accelerating bike out there but it certainly does it in the most charismatic manner. The weight is a let down and the bike runs out of steam at around 160 km/hr. On a longer stretch, you might see 170 km/hr if you tuck down behind the tiny windscreen that does nothing to shield your head from the wind blast. I am happy with it and on our Indian roads, there isn't much where i can use the entire potential of the engine.Servicing and maintenance:Bad. Just bad. This one section drops the entire machine down to four stars from five. Kawasaki has lost it. After about a year of ownership, you are looking at a new chain-set which costs 21,000. Each service costs 7,000+. One indicator that i cracked costs 4400. Fairing for one side is 40,000 plus. The brake pads cost 6600 a set. Everything is just so expensive and there are parts on hayabusa that cost less. The maintenance costs are similar to those of a 1000 cc motorcycle and that does not seem fair. Although you do get the best quality everything but at a price that kawasaki seriously needs to check. Buying is easy, but maintaining it is a regular painful experience and i might look elsewhere for my next bike. (are you listening kawasaki?)Overall it is a brilliant motorcycle which now comes at a reasonable price and with abs too. Its easy to ride for amateurs and can teach motorcycle dynamics for future upgrades pretty well. Its forgiving, its comfortable and very refined but you can almost clearly tell that the maintenance costs are a deal breaker for many potential buyers that end up with ktms that performs better, costs less to own and maintain but at a compromise on build quality.Pros:Good looks Engine sound Linear power Looks and feels expensive Fuel economical with a big tank and a 500 km range.Cons:Maintenance costs Braking power Weight.

Best bike in its segment. This bike is city friendly and throttle response is amazing which provide you enough acceleration according to your need. Looks are stunning and it is comfortable too and you will get the reliability of Japanese bike as well. Definitely you will shine out in the crowd and will not feel regret after buying it.

I got this bike in September 2016. I’ve done almost 6000kms. So far two services done. Both cost around ?6000. Riding experience is very great. The bike is really smooth even at high rpms..Thanks to the twin cylinder. The slipper clutch is also great. Also i got an akrapovic exhaust installed which made it more sexier. The sound is really great. The bike looks stunning and gorgeous.

Wow what a machine it is! last week i got a chance for a night ride on ninja 300 (that's my cousin's bike). Initially i was in little fear to control a machine like this but after one kilometre she became my pet for rest of my ride. I really enjoyed the ride on her as well as the sound from exhaust especially after when the speed cross 90km/h. On that day she helped me to get treat as a 'king' on the road and i loved the jealous look of others when i was on her at signals. Now my ambition is to get a ninja 300 in no time.

The buying is now easier as kawasaki has opened its own showroom and now they are more concerned about their customers. Riding this bike doesn't give you a leisure of a big bike but trust me it is the closest you can get to super bikes. Looks on this bike are just breath taking and your friends will just crap their pants. Servicing is alright and maintenance is way cheaper than ktm so get the idea.

She is an awesome machine

Wow what a machine it is! last week i got a chance for a night ride on ninja 300 (that's my cousin's bike). Initially i was in little fear to control a machine like this but after one kilometre she became my pet for rest of my ride. I really enjoyed the ride on her as well as the sound from exhaust especially after when the speed cross 90km/h. On that day she helped me to get treat as a 'king' on the road and i loved the jealous look of others when i was on her at signals. Now my ambition is to get a ninja 300 in no time.

Very smooth and has got awesome pickup for a 300cc bike. Mileage is 24kmpl. Top speed is 171 (my capacity)
Stunning looks and fearsome lights. Feel proud to be a part of the ninja family. The disadvantage is that i can take it everywhere. The colour is what makes the bike very eye catching. Wheelie is very smooth with this bike.

This is one (thing) you can rely on.No delays.. A few minutes to the rendezvous. The topic of the day always while it gets down on the road.So comfortable. The lion roars and dog barks of its sound just leave the city bikers wondering. Its speeds just get you approximately 5 meters every second on a normal traffic highway.Try this....Just super amazing.
