No, we are not playing an April fool’s prank. This is the picture of the new Hyosung GT250R. Don’t mistake it for the GT650R and what’s news is that Hyosung might launch this new version soon.
The new look of the GT250R is not just inspired from the GT650R, but in fact, it has the same fairing that the elder sibling boasts of. No changes have been made apart from the fairing. So now, the GT250R and GT650R will have the same look, with prospective GT250R owners having the option to pass it of as a GT650R.
Now both the motorcycles from the Korean manufacturer have almost the same body proportions. They are huge in comparison to any of the other motorcycles from any manufacturer. Some features that distinguish the GT250R from the GT650R is the exhaust and the end can on the GT650R, which is a black matt finish one, while the GT250R boasts of a shiny muffler.
The mechanical bits on the GT250R will remain the same. The current version is powered by the 250cc V-Twin motor that churns out 28bhp of power and 22Nm of torque. The mill is mated to a five-speed gearbox. These engines will be carried over to the new version without any additional features.
Hyosung might launch this revised GT250R within a few days. We don’t expect the company to increase the price of this version, as the current version itself is priced at Rs 2,90,000, a tad higher than the competition. We are waiting for the official press release from the company. On receipt we will give you all the details and the price of the new version. Stay tuned to BikeWale.
