Indian Motorcycles launches new bike called Springfield in UK

Indian Motorcycles recently took the wraps off a new addition to its lineup called the Springfield. The big air-cooled cruiser was launched for around 20 thousand British Pounds which translates to roughly 19 lakh INR. The Springfield is the latest model from Indian to blend modern technology with the brand’s heritage.

The 2016 Springfield has classic styling but gets keyless start, remote-locking saddlebags and Indian’s Thunder Stroke 111 V-twin powerhouse. This 1811cc engine comes with undisclosed power but makes 137Nm of torque at a low 2,600rpm. The Springfield has a quick-release windscreen and saddlebags can be taken off the bike with minimum fuss. So, the conversion from a bagger to a high-performance cruiser in terms of looks, is a few minutes job.

“It’s really a different bike when you ride it,” said Steve Menneto, president of motorcycles at Polaris Industries, Indian’s parent company. “What makes the Springfield versatile is its low centre of gravity. It’s very easy to ride. It’s different than a cruiser because it’s on a touring chassis, but it’s not loaded down with added weight.”

Since, we get almost all of the models that Indian Motorcycle sells globally, it’s only a matter of time before the Indian Springfield makes its India debut.
