Suzuki Motorcycles India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the most affordable V-Strom series model. This new quarter-litre adventure tourer, christened as the V-Strom SX, rivals the likes of KTM 250 Adventure, Benelli TRK251, Royal Enfield Himalayan, and Hero XPulse 200 in the Indian market.
The new V-Strom SX is based on the company’s existing quarter-litre model, the Gixxer 250. The design includes a single-pod headlight, tall stance, muscular fuel tank, tall windscreen, and beak-style front fender. The feature list comprises an LED headlight, LED taillight, and a Bluetooth-enabled fully digital instrument cluster. Apart from the ride-related information, the console also shows alerts on incoming messages, calls, and turn-by-turn navigation. It also shows speed exceeding warnings and displays phone battery level. A USB charging slot and a rear luggage rack are also part of the package.
The mechanical specifications on the new V-Strom SX include a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor that delivers 26.5bhp of power and 22.2Nm of peak torque. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
The hardware comprises telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock to handle the suspension tasks. The anchoring setup includes single discs on both wheels while the safety net is handled by dual-channel ABS. The V-Strom SX rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels that are wrapped in dual-purpose 100/90 front and 140/70 rear tubeless tyres.

Honest Review after 25k kms
Arjun
Here's my honest review. I have been using this bike for over 1.5 years and have driven it for 25k kms.Pros: Smooth engine. Super comfortable and wonderful machine for touring. Return good milage in both highways and city. (Above 30 in city traffic)Low maintenance in terms of filter and engine oil.Clutch is a bit stiff and riders under 5.7 will be bit uncomfortable as the bike is tallCons: Out of excitement I missed doing a predelivery inspection. There was a knocking sound from the front shocks when breaks were applied or when i used to hit a pothole. I brought this to the mechanic's notice at the very first service and I have approached them for the same issue 5 times. Every time they would just tighten some nut and return the bike saying it's fixed. Last time they replaced the coneset still the sound came back after a few hundred kms. I'm frustrated with Suzuki's service. I commute is mostly on highways and traffic never off-road. I wonder how many issues might arise if I go for off-roading.Next is quality of switches: all switches stopped functioning properly after 10k kms. They never replaced it even after complaining several times. I'm facing this issue from reputed service centres from both Udupi and Bangalore(Karnataka).Another issue is suspension is too stiff and the suspension travel is low. Your arms get punished each time you hit a pothole. The worst part is resale value for this bike is too low. Incase you want to sell it Good luck with your task 🙂 as market is flooded with 2nd hand vstroms with low demand

Tips for other riders
The mrf tyres are really good. Even though I am an enthusiastic rider i got a milage of 23k kms out of my back tyre. Front is still usable over 26k kms. Go for xpulse break pads. It will cost half price and same performance. Use motul engine oil (Suzuki's native engine oil make your engine lose refinement)

Bought this machine on 21st June 2022. On-road price was around 276k (kerala). It took around 14 days to deliver the bike after booking. I had some other options in a similar price range. But when I took the test ride.. Oh, man. It rode straight to my heart. It gives you a very relaxed and upright riding posture. Foot pegs are placed a little backward which is cool. Super wide seats and it is on a softer side (not too soft but it never lacks comfort) . Felt very light once it starts to roll. The engine is very much refined and gear shifts are precise. You don't feel any vibrations even at higher speeds. The power delivery is linear, unlike the ktms. But it doesn't mean that you will miss the fun factor. You can cruise at 120s effortlessly. The initial pick-up is impressive. For 0-100 it will take below 10 sec. It is easy to ride a bike in cities and highways. (i haven't checked the offloading capabilities.) suspension is neither too hard nor too soft. Potholes/cracked or humpy bumpy roads are peanuts for this. Very easy to maneuver. It gives enough confidence in cornering as well. All-day touring is just a piece of cake. Braking efficiency is pretty decent. The seat height may raise an issue for some as I am 5'10 and I don't get a well-planted foot. I have done my first service @ 900 km and it cost me around 1200 rs. I waited for around 5 hrs to get the job done and it was a wee bit irritating.Coming the cons which I noticed are1. Illumination could have been better2. You will have to check the chain tightness after every 300 kms3. Crash guards are not available4. The wind visor is not adjustable and the wind blast hits right on your face at higher speeds.Suzuki vstrom sx champion yellow.

Most reliable 250 cc adventure tourer in 2022

The bike is super smooth. Coming from a re classic , vstorm for me screams quality and reliability. After having a most un_reliable re bike for 8 years. I felt I should switch to Japanese bike for peace of mind. Loving it now. I usually use it for touring and daily office commuting. It's as comfortable as re classic. Since I'm tall 6.1 I don't have any issue with height.

1. Buying experience : First of all I would explain why to buy this machine. It's a combination of touring and adventure, buying an adventure with 249cc, 36 kmpl and 12 liters what else is required2. Riding Experience: it's comfortable to ride, sitting position is excellent easily long ride can be done. It gives a feel of Trump tiger 600. If your bike enthusiast or a adventurer then go for it
