Bajaj Dominar 400 Summary

Price: Bajaj Dominar 400 price for its variant - Dominar 400 Touring starts at Rs. 2,26,066. The mentioned Dominar 400 price is the average ex-showroom.

Bajaj Dominar 400 is a street bike available in only 1 variant and 2 colours. The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by 373.3cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 39.42 bhp and a torque of 35 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Bajaj Dominar 400 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Dominar 400 bike weighs 193 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters.

The Dominar 400 is Bajaj’s take on a power cruiser. It is meant to be an all-rounder but more suitable for those who like to go mile-munching often.

The motorcycle has continued with the same design ever since its inception, barring a few minor changes like the addition of touring accessories, which come as standard. The accessories include a tall windscreen, knuckle guards, saddle stays, and a rear luggage rack. As muscular as it looks, it’s also equally heavy with a kerb weight of 193kg.

In terms of equipment, it features a data-extensive instrument console providing a host of information along with a secondary display on the fuel tank. It also gets premium-looking side mirrors, forged side stand, 17-inch, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a double-barrel exhaust. In order to maximise the touring abilities, the Dominar comes with straps located beneath the pillion seat that can be used to mount luggage using bungee cords.

Coming to the mechanical aspects, the motorcycle features inverted forks and a radial calliper for the braking system up front. The rear, meanwhile, sports a preload-adjustable monoshock and a single disc for braking. Dual-channel ABS is provided as standard. Powering the bike is a 373.2cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected mill that comes with DOHC and produces 39.4bhp at 8,650rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm.

This bike offers better power in an affordable price. Cokes with a 400cc engine which is ideal for longer rides. Make sure to equip the tourer kit only when it's needed and remove it for city usage which can offer better power delivery and control. This bike offers better riding comfort than other competitors on long trips.

      Bajaj Dominar 400 review

      Manoj

At this price point, Bajaj has done a great job with 40bhp reaching top speeds of 160-170km/h with excellent stability, loved the seat comfort and riding position, I loved everything about the D400 only two negatives that I feel is the braking, it’s not the best braking system for a heavily weighted motorcycle, and the instrument cluster is very raw and unattractive. However, I loved everything about the power, mileage (around 28-30), service costs, reliability, and design.

Beast - powerhouse on the wheel

      Abhishek Gorivale

I gave this title because this bike is very powerful and runs with great speed. It's called "Powerhouse on Wheels" because it gives power to its ride like giving power to its car. It also has a liquid-cooled engine which makes it efficient in terms of performance and durability. Additionally, its design and features make it stand out from other bikes in its class, making it a powerhouse on wheels.

      Upgrades in Dominor 400 Performances

      Biswojeet Patra

The Dominar 400 is one of the leading budget sport-touring motorcycles in India. It debuted in the motorbike market in 2019 and is one of the leading motorcycles in India. It is categorized as the most out-performing motorcycle in its segment.
I am always impressed by Bajaj Dominar's results. The SOHC layout on offer surely helps in improving the refinement of the motor. Other major updates in the new Dominor 400 include upside-down forks, a double-barrel exhaust, a radial caliper on the front disk, and a new instrument cluster with a gear shift indicator.

Good bike for daily commuters as well as off-roading, the heavy engine gives you a good experience and takes you to another level of driving. Drive safely on roads and don't compete yourself with others in terms of useless showoffs. I am expecting more upgrades on this bike to give or feel another level of driving experience

Her name "DOMINAR" is enough because she craves for Dominian, not for a proportion. Well said by Bajaj " Let's Dominate the Nine Realms".

      Vipul

The purchasing experience was good, the salesperson treated me well and brilliantly explained the bike. Value for money, because its cheap and best in 400cc segment provided with high power of 40 PS, torque of 27 Nm, high-end electrical functions, and all other basic specifications and features
When it comes to the riding experience, I must say it's fabulous, take it to any road or no road she delivers her best. Provides comfort to the rider and also the riding position is best than the rest of other bikes, and also provides comfort to the pillion regardless of speed, bike position in running, high acceleration, etc. This bike is also known as a sports tourer as it delivers very high power and torque, which makes it far much better than any of the bikes upto 400cc except KTM 390cc bikes.
(FYI, Dominar 400 is not a track-ready bike it comes under the category of naked sports, so there is no point of comparing it with fairing body type bikes such as RC390, RR310, CBR250, R1, BMW RR310 or above).
When it comes to looks, she is just like fire, burning up the ways. People get attracted to her muscular body at just a single glance. Of course, she is a head-turner.
Performance, as I have already mentioned above she is the best in 400cc segment (top in Indian manufactured brands). It has been a year now I am riding this bike and have ridden this bike at top speed of 172, she was very stable and she can go max upto 180 on road and 195 on dyno machine. I have encountered severe situations where I had to apply panic braking at high speed, she was always my best friend during those situations and never disappointed me, breaking system of this bike is fabulous, and the dual channel ABS works the best to date. If you are good at handling, then you can control this bike as per your skills at any speed and in any position. This bike can be ridden on any kind of road as it provides comfort and the best shock-absorbing suspension.
      PFB, Speed/gear pattern:-
      1st - 55 to 60
      2nd - 60 to 95
      3rd - upto 115
      4th - upto 130
      5th - upto 155
      6th - 155 to 180
Definitely depending on the condition of the bike.

Follow as per the company guidelines, do get serviced on time. She will survive more than 15 years. Few tips I would like to share:- Always fuel up with extra premium petrol only (Speed, Power, etc as per availability). Always use 4 stroke Motul 7100 T engine oil at intervals of 2000 kms (much better if you can get 7200 T which is rarely available). Please do not use bajaj brand engine oil, even bajaj recommends Motul. Always get the chain cleaned and lubed at intervals of 250-300 kms. Do check whether the chain is tight or not, because it keeps getting loosened a bit at every 500 kms. The clutch should be tight as much as the bike starts marching when you release the clutch max to an inch from the handle. Maintain tyre pressure regularly - front 30, rear 40. Keep your bike always clean and all screws tightly screwed up for better performance.

Too good but at what cost

      Neel Shah

I was looking forward to this bike and took a test ride today and believe me, this bike vibrates 3-4 times more than my 10-year-old activa. Even at a lower speed (i.E 40-50km/h) too many vibrations :( if you don't care about engine refinement then go for it. Everything else is perfect i.E. Comfort, even pillion comfort is good. The looks are just incredible and also it has a good presence on road. You are paying almost rs. 2.6 lakhs, can't expect this type of engine in this budget, bajaj should learn from the competition. Vibrations are the only reason I canceled my plan to buy this bike.

      Purchased in 2020.
      Good looking bike
      Definitely enjoy raiding.
      Performance is good enough.
      Experience good service still now.
      Decent fuel economy.
      Less maintenance cost.
      Great for the solo raider.
      But Vibration on the handlebar.
The gear shift is not that good.
Sometimes wobbles at high speed if windy.
The rear brake is not that great.

Dominar 400 makes good seminar of how a bike must not be

      Shaktiprasad

Its been close to 2 years being with the bike, almost 20k kms on the odo.
Build quality is pathetic, cheap plastic, loose nut & bolts all around.
Got my engine head replaced under warranty 3 times, still problem of rim noise persists.
Have been told by trusted bajaj service centre in bangalore to " sell it or live with it" .
In 2 years i have been to service centre more than 50times to get one or the other problem rectified.
They don give a shit about the bikes condition.
For an instance , a manager of that "reputed" service centre said "do not complain your problems via mail , else bajaj will blacklist you"

      Bajaj Dominar 400 review

      Zubair

It's a good bike in terms of power top speed braking but very poor service and high maintenance bike spares are expensive and very hard to find. Poor mileage poor battery. One can take it to long trip but if any problem appears in this bike it's very difficult to find a mechanic who can fix that.

      No testdrive available in thiruvananthapuram

      Anand

There is no testdrive available for this bike in trivandrum. I contacted pioneer Bajaj and Deedi Bajaj for a test drive and they told me that you have to book the vehicle for a test drive. That's not even fair. After that I enquired in person on both showrooms .Then also they didn't give me a test drive for this bike. Customer service is so bad.
