Bajaj Pulsar 220 Summary

Price: Bajaj Pulsar 220 F price for its variant - Pulsar 220 F Standard starts at Rs. 1,39,084. The price for the other variant - Pulsar 220 F Bluetooth is Rs. 1,41,102. The mentioned Pulsar 220 F prices are the average ex-showroom.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is a street bike available in 2 variants and 7 colours. The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is powered by 220cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 20.11 bhp and a torque of 18.55 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Bajaj Pulsar 220 F comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Pulsar 220 F bike weighs 160 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15 liters.

After discontinuing the Pulsar 220F in India for a few months, Bajaj Auto is all set to bring back the motorcycle in the market. It has already started arriving at dealerships and select dealers are even accepting bookings for the bike. These might be indications that the official launch of the Pulsar 220F isn’t too far.

Bajaj had discontinued the Pulsar 220F in 2022 to make way for the new-age 250cc Pulsars in Bajaj’s portfolio. However, the demand for the 220 certainly hasn’t deteriorated, especially in some parts of the country like the Southern region. Now, whether Bajaj will introduce it in select markets or across India is something not yet confirmed.

As can be observed from the spy images, Bajaj hasn’t executed any visual changes to the bike. It continues to sport a half-faired design with a huge front fascia, a muscular fuel tank, and a long tail with a split-type seat. In terms of features, it will expectedly be the same as the previous bike with an LED projector headlamp, LED tail lamp, semi-digital console, and a 15-litre fuel tank.

The engine and hardware package of the Pulsar 220F will also probably be the same. It is powered by a 220cc, oil-cooled engine that produces 20.11bhp and 18.55Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Suspended on telescopic forks up front and old-school dual springs at the rear, the Pulsar 220F rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Bringing this 160kg machine to a halt is a single disc at both ends accompanied by a single-channel ABS setup.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 F Review

  • Good Things

    • Engine performance is good
    • Mid-range torque works well on highways
    • Excellent service reach
  • Could be Better

    • Retains decade-old styling
    • Doesn't get modern features like Bluetooth-cluster

BikeWale's Take

The Bajaj Pulsar 220F is an affordable entry-level performance bike. While it does get a powerful engine, it also offers good fuel efficiency figures. However, it could do with a cosmetic update since it has been the same since it was launched in 2009.

The Legend Bike Pulsar 220f winning hearts since many years

      Vinay

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is a popular choice among motorcycle enthusiasts in India, and for good reason.
Price: The Pulsar 180 is more affordable than the 220 for obvious reasons, and it is my first motorcycle, bought on loan with my first job’s income.
More Black: mine was the last of the entirely black bikes, before the black+white, black+blue, black+red came in. and 220 Pulsar was just shinier with the silver-colored exhaust.
Less vibrations: the front fairing on the 220 does have vibrations for a beginner, but it gets used to in the long run, but I felt it as a need for more maintenance and hence chose the naked street version.
Less maintenance: pulsar 220 has oil-cooling, it cools the oil from the engine using a radiator, it is not that efficient as the engine cylinder still depends on the fins and flowing air for its thermodynamics. The less parts, the less maintenance, that’s what I feel! And I have heard that the engine oil capacity is 1.2L for pulsar 220 over 1L for pulsar 180, owing to filling up the radiator, but this fact I am not sure of.
The Pulsar 220 has a temperature sensor for oil temperature warnings on the display. I do like this safety feature that might save the engine from a seizure, but that is highly unlikely and the chances of engine electricals misfiring is high. No, I am not being superstitious, but this is India and mechanics often screw up the simple working of the devices and may cause more damage than fixing stuff.

My bike is of 2024, Bs6-2 model, It is one of the best bikes, For entry-level sportbikes. For long-ride cruising, I don't think so, no other bike gives such performance.
It gives great torque in 2,3 gears and also a better riding experience.
The only suggestion to Bajaj is that please give, the 6th gear and gear position in the digital meter.

It was stylish in 2007 but after there was no change in design, or colors, everything same. adding F after 220.

No doubt the bike is very Good in power pickup, but the build quality is poor, and the design boring and irritating chain set sound, and the fiber body on the tank and behind the pillion seat, the body of the bike sound rather losing bolt, etc.. especially when you think about sports bike. you always require smooth engine sound, colorful design, sharp edges, etc.

Owned from 2015 onwards. Good performance city mileage 35 kmpl highways long ride up to 40 kmpl stylish service costs approximate up to Rs, 2000 to 2500. every 5000 kms needs to improve suspensions like Rs 200. Also altering the front doom set like r15 means looks more good to visually looking. For 220 performances with the average cost. I like it.
